Zombie  hatched from a dead egg  Decaying Scholar Zombie’s egg was found during the Night of the Nocturne, but unfortunately it had been pierced by the fang of a chest mimic. The clan was certain that the egg would die within hours, but decided to try incubating it out of respect for the unborn dragon inside. The stench of rot kicked in soon after incubation started. It was in the midst of being disposed of when, miraculously, it started to hatch! An undead dragon hatched from a dead egg; not unheard of, especially in the Plaguebringer’s Domain, but certainly unexpected in a place like the Shifting Expanse. The surprisingly robust hatchling grew up surrounded in awe of his survival, so he naturally became curious about it himself. Once he was old enough to read, Zombie began researching everything the clan knew about decay, and when something is truly considered dead. Many tomes left him with more questions, however, and he knew it was on himself to answer them. His hatchlinghood best friend Swampthing told him that she was going to travel the world to see every single wetland, and Zombie decided to tag along. Visiting every swamp seemed to be a tall order, and sometimes the undead Nocturne had a feeling that his Guardian friend had other motives for traveling all of Sornieth… Zombie found his familiar, Carrion, when Swampthing took them through the Scarred Wasteland. Both hound and dragon aren’t exactly alive, and they hit it off immediately. He quickly realized that it was hard to keep paper dry and writings on them legible when most of his time was in wetlands, so instead Zombie opted to record his research by way of scrimshaw. His studies often had his pack full of sturdy bones, and he found that a chipped bit of Shadowbinder’s Tears was perfect for etching into them. Hoard
