Olendir was not always an ice-wielding Skydancer. He was once an ice-wielding sorcerer and shapeshifter. In another world, Olendir was a respected wizard who helped and defended others. He used his ice magic to defend against the onslaught of Arabacus’ armies and was able to transform into a white wolf at will.

Olendir's appearance has always been as crystalline and snowy as his magic, but he has a warm and caring heart. He values the lives of all creatures and believes that love and mercy are far superior to bloodshed. He once adopted a girl of another race into his home after she had lost her family. Olendir helped to raise the girl, named Shamara, and taught her that, while violence is sometimes necessary, it is never the best option. This sort of caring and wisdom has led to Olendir being a respected member of the clan of Gloom, and he is often sought out for his advice and aid. Solomon himself enjoys having philosophical talks with him and Arandir.
