PERSONALITY:
Thunderbird is highly religious, and worships the Stormcatcher above all. She enforces worship of Stormcatcher in Clan Stormbay, but does not suppress other deities her clanmates might wish to worship. It is her opinion that since they live under the Stormcatcher's skies they owe him allegiance. She is a passionate, serious, and stubborn dragon. Oddly enough, she does not believe in ghosts or spirits. It is an old belief nurtured by her godless parents. Thunderbird comes off as callous, stiff, and insensitive, in part because of her strict rule and in part because of her birdskull face. In reality she is a melodramatic nerd. CURRENT PLOTS: Although she faced initial resistance due to her sudden takeover, Thunderbird has proven herself effective. She is aware of some dragons who have become loyal to the clan's founding family though, and works to get them behind her rule. HISTORY: Though she doesn't care to discuss her past, Thunderbird had modest origins. Her parents were clanless nomads, and she was the sole hatchlings of her clutch. She was raised to survive in the harsh desert, under the whiplike might of the Stormcatcher's lightning. When it came time to leave the nest, she went without fanfare. For a long time, Thunderbird wandered alone. During a particularly dry spell, she fell ill. Wings dragging and belly aching, she all but crashed into one of the tall stone mesas that dotted the Shifting Expanse. She expected to die there, and the last thing she heard before closing her eyes was the low rumble of an approaching storm. She woke up changed. Her wings were no longer thin sails of skin but plumes of a buzzing blue energy. Her skull was likewise, and she quickly fabricated a bird-like mask out of bone and metal to conceal and protect it. The Ridgeback decided she'd been blessed by the Stormcatcher himself, and it renewed her life with new purpose. As she soared away, she spotted a plume of dark smoke rising from Carrior Canyon. Thunderbird took this as another sign, and went to it. There she found what remained of Clan Stormbay. After a traitor bombed the old lair, killing their king, Thunderbird took it upon herself to rebuild the clan. She listened to the others of the clan and quickly established her position. She led the move from the Carrion Canyon lair to a new lair inside one of the tall stone mesas near the Tempest Spire. FAMILIAR: Shale Thresher "Binesi" |
