Lana looks exactly the same as her mother, Eliana. Eliana, fiercely proud of her name, took a special interest in Lana as she grew. It wouldn't do for a child that looked so much like her to be a disappointment that soiled the Strembek name, after all. Lana trained hard as a warrior and savored every rare and tiny drop of praise Eliana would give her. She would do almost anything to make Eliana proud. Almost anything. Deep down, Lana's discomfort with Eliana's often harsh and cold personality continued to grow. Her heart wasn't really in the battle training and Lana was far too caring to feel anything but guilt when coerced into conducting herself like her mother expected. And Eliana expected that sympathy towards other dragons would never get in the way.

Where Eliana is ambitious, Lana has no competitive streak at all. Eliana showed her daughter her shadow magic tricks; little illusions and distractions that could easily be used to scare and manipulate. Lana figured out how to use her own lightning magic to achieve similar ends, but she uses her sparks and flashes as entertainment and party tricks. She didn't let Eliana know, of course. Lana is a perfectionist by necessity. She doesn't truly care about perfection and she would much rather make other dragons smile than win a fight. When she told Eliana that she was going to head off on her own, Eliana respected her choice. It was time for Lana to be her own dragon, after all. Shaped by opposing influences, what kind of dragon she will be remains to be seen.
