˖⁺‧₊☽ “the stars speak” ☾₊‧⁺˖
Phorys had never doubted, exactly, that he was a cosmic being — it was, of course, useful when he discovered his fascination for the stars and would take to the library to spend hours poring over the dustiest of tomes and scrolls, often attaching them to his belt. When he found himself bored by the thought of simply being a dusty old scholar, he would learn spells and other enchantments. They weren’t particularly useful, but Phorys did find himself easily picking up these spells due to his origin. And so when he decided that he no longer wished to travel simply via his imagination, he packed up his few belongings and promised he’d return. He was to be proven wrong, considerably so.

Whenever he encountered a physical altercation, he’d always delicately avoid it, his starry paws delicately stepping over the bloody messes around. He felt a compulsion to help, but he was not really a benevolent deity; he’d leave it to such deities. He would stop in as many clans as he could, examining their archives and writing long scrolls of text about the clan he was studying. It earned him some curious looks, but Phorys was not to be deterred from his research. On his journey home, however, he made to take a shortcut through the Foxfire Bramble.

He was wise enough to ensure that he stayed where the sunlight could dimly filter through the brambles, but once he saw an interesting ruin, born ages ago, he could not help his little detour.

He was delighted to find this ruin; it was in excellent shape, although understandably destroyed by the ages. Phorys had never seen such a gorgeous faerie ruin in all his travels and reading. And just as he was about to begin struggling with pitching his tent (a skill that he by no means naturally excelled at), he was interrupted by another dragon, a baby Coatl with a curious look upon her infantile face, one that somehow held an uncanny amount of knowledge. “You’re a researcher? These ruins are nothing special. You may be on your way.”

Phorys half-heartedly argued, but the baby Coatl insisted he leave. Finally, Phorys played his final card, one he was quite unsure about. “Wait — I see you’re descended from the stars too, aren’t you? I am too, I’m just here to understand the world I’ve descended into.” The Coatl paused, skeptically.

He would come to learn that the Coatl’s name was Solara, and she was a good few centuries old, of course, despite her appearance. He would also realize that the ruins were only maintained so perfectly because of the many spells cast on the buildings. The faerie magic lingering in these ruins happened to be such a good conductor for magic. Due to this, the other residents seemed to all be mages, and strangely morphed in some way.

Phorys stayed far longer than he should — he’d written many scrolls by the time he departed to visit his clan again, and he promised he would stay with his clan, but eventually he went traveling again. None of the ruin-dwellers, named the Shattered, were surprised. They had all been anticipating his permanent return; it was only too obvious that he’d return.

The ruins were such a beautiful sight to behold, made all the more beautiful by the magical expansions the Shattered had done. But most of all, Phorys was head over heels in love with the library. One of the largest buildings had been claimed as a home, by a mysterious pastel Imperial who once allowed Phorys to pick up a book on faerie culture. Phorys had been expecting a few bookshelves in a cozy home, but no. It was a gorgeous library with vaulted ceilings, marble columns, and elegant wooden bookshelves, the chandeliers laden with candles truly a work of art. Phorys had really never seen anything like it. The Imperial, Seskel, did not mind Phorys’ absolute awe, and hesitantly allowed him access to the library and some books that Seskel kept in his own inner quarters.

Phorys can now be found spending his days in Seskel’s library, somewhere in a corner with a stack of books. Seskel, meanwhile, enjoys that his massive collection of books is being appreciated, and will often recommend books based on Phorys’s interests. Phorys especially enjoys astronomy, and to his absolute joy, Carisma, one of the Shattered’s leaders, has given him a lovely telescope. He provides detailed charts of the stars, and Seskel will keep copies of them in his library.
