The Shadow Worm

Tardow is a mysterious spirit who just appeared one night. It is not known who they are exactly, where they came from or why. They just started to appear to the residents soon after auraboas started travelling and they don’t seem to be leaving anytime soon. Though they look like the nature ancient there are few attributes that seem to be amiss with them; they speak primarily in a weird whispering style, they seem to lack venom of any kind and though they possess wings they have never been seen using them. Instead they primarily move by using their tens of tiny legs. They barely even use their claws which has sprouted some theories that they are not a dragon but a demon using an auraboa form as a disguise. The theory has yet to be proven false or true.

Tardow is quite friendly when someone has come in contact with them and they do respond to summoning spells. However, they are very picky with who they interact with. They seem to avoid dragons with strong spiritual connection, all the spirits in the wood as well as light and fire dragon, reason for the last one might be their affinity to shadows. On the flip side they are very eager to approach dragons with low spirituality or self-esteem as well as dragons consumed by their high goals. They tend to offer some support to those dragons but their advices are often dubious, and they disappear very fast when a type of dragon they prefer to avoid approaches. They have also asked their contacts to keep the meetings as secret indicating that they have ulterior motives. It is not known what those motives might be but thus far they have not caused any significant harm to residents. Interactions with them should still be avoided just in case.

Tardow is best know for their ability to swim in shadows. They can dive into them and appear out of them as if they were liquid and they can swim from one shadow to another assuming the shadows are connected. If the shadow is cut out of the rest they may get stuck but they can get out by hiding in a shadow of a bypassing creature. Though sounding similar to shadow diving, a learnable ability of the shadow flight, it appears to be different. They cannot be pulled out of the shadow by force assuming they aren’t partly out already, there is black tar-like substance dripping off of them whenever they surface which just vanished upon coming in contact with the shadow and the diving forms ripples on the shadows through which a weird world can be seen, which has never been recorded to happen with shadow diving. When it comes to other skills, not much is known of Tardow as they are very prone to running away. They have never been seen flying, clawing or biting nor have they ever been heard hissing, screaming or shouting. All they are known to do is swim in shadows and approach certain dragons with dubious advices.

Name origin: Named after one of Finlandia's own character from one of her stories. The name is combination of words "tar" and "shadow".
