Sent by the Shadowbinder to recover the wayward Bauchan, Bogan promised to remain vigilant, and not let himself be swayed by whatever had waylaid her. He watched the bonepile for many days before determining that the dragons who came here were sick or injured, in body, mind, or spirit. He immediately adopted a swaying limp, a dragging wing, and a list of the neck that caused his head to bob absently, a glazed look in his eyes. He gave a keening call as he approached the gap in the ribcage that served as an entry to the Imperial. A long, sinuous orange Spiral came fluttering down from one of the shoulder blades as he entered. She looked at him sympathetically, but with a flash of motion she pulled his wing straight and whipped his 'good' leg out, causing him to balance on his limping limb. Her keen eye had seen through his fakery, but she was baffled as to why anyone would fake injury to enter the Sanitorium.

Bogan, thoroughly chastised, turned to go and report his failure to the Shadowbinder. Before he could leave, though, something tugged at his tail. Bauchan sat beside him, her once violet scales now a glittering icy color and a look of joy he had never seen before in her eyes. She was happy here, happier than she had ever been as a spy of the Shadowbinder. And the orange Spiral wrapped a protective, motherly wing around him - he was not a very old dragon, after all, barely full grown - and invited him to stay. All were welcome here, after all.
