The Shadowbinder is protective of her children. Any dragon whom she has touched in some way become special to her, and the brave Guardian who asked to become a Fae to be with his charge piqued her interest. She kept an occasional eye on the new Fae, and was somewhat bemused to see the sanctuary for lost and broken dragons that had built itself around the Fae pair living within the thorn-choked skeleton.
Something, though, began to block her vision. Some dragons have special abilities, and when not kept in check may run rampant. Someone in the Sanitorium was able to shield his or her new home from outside eyes, even those of a god. Not to be impeded, the Shadowbinder took matters into her own hands and sent one of her special children, a shapeshifting Nocturne, to observe and report back to her. This dragon was Bauchan, newly hatched and ready for mischief.

No place could be better for a tricky little dragon than the Sanitorium. There were so many dragons, and they were so different from anything Bauchan had seen before! They spoke in whispers or shouts, or in strange exotic tongues. One was blind, one drab little thing covered herself in feathers and fur of lurid colors, one even glowed dimly, and wrapped himself around the spine of the Imperial who housed him and served as a kind of chandelier. This dragon intrigued Bauchan the most, and she took on the guise of frozen scales to mimic the crystal skin of the chandelier dragon. Many weeks she spent hiding amongst the vertebrae, studying these fascinating creatures. She may be a loyal servant of the Shadowbinder, but it would take a stronger dragon than even her to pry Bauchan from this place of wonder.

Bauchan's nest is decorated with colorful nocturne puppets. They wriggle and creak when the wind blows...and when it doesn't.
