Medea knows things. A lot of things, really.

Like the fact there are monsters that roam the land above; barbarians in the hides of dragons that brandish things sharper than claws and teeth. Spears they're called, she thinks. She saw one once, felt one. It hurt, a lot. Apparently there's even worse than that! Like beasts that can think and talk and lie just like the barbarians do.

So, she's safer here! In the Below. With friends that like the shadows and hide from the flicker of flames, so she keeps it dark for them. She doesn't like being alone. And besides, it's nice in the dark. Calming, doesn't hurt her eyes.

The chest with teeth that she sleeps in is really warm and comfortable too.
