Groose isn't quite as famous as his sisters Hylia and Impa are. If he's feeling particularly honest, he'll admit that it makes him a little envious from time to time. But Groose has other things to do than wallow in self-pity. He's an avid inventor and is always building some new contraption out of the bits and bobs that he finds on gathering excursions (Shay's spoken to him on more than one occasion about hoarding found items for himself instead of depositing them in the clan's hoard). Nothing makes him more gleeful than to finally make a new machine work.

Groose often takes trips to the Shifting Expanse to meet with some friends he made in the Lightning Flight. He loves to learn new tips and tricks from them. He would just ask advice of Laika, the clan's resident Lightning Spiral, but nobody can really understand her when she starts talking about complex machinery and engineering, especially because she tries to talk about three subjects at once and starts flying around in excited loop-dee-loops at the same time. No, Groose prefers to speak to some less excitable dragons.

He bought his red fedora at the Auction House one day. He wears it every day. Everybody always asks him how he can see what he's doing when the hat covers his eyes like that, but he still insists on wearing it. He tells everybody he wears it because it's fashionable, but the complete truth is that it boosts his self-confidence and makes him feel interesting, especially when he's struggling out from his sisters' shadow.
