once, emperors were a well kept secret. imperials shuffled their dead away in silence, away from the eyes of other clan members. over time, disposal of bodies has changed and developed over time--from entombing to burning and all in between. finial had lived for a very, very long time. while luminax was the first emperor he had seen in his long life, his father on his deathbed had told him the stories--the reason for their solitude, and what to do with his body. the memory of his father's corpse and what he needed to do with it haunted him. he spent years researching physiology of imperials, learning about the leylines and the magic wielded by his flight and what texts he could find on his glorious mother. in the name of science he did things that fill him with shame but not with regret. he sought at first to cure the curse entirely--a futile search, one undertaken many many times by dragons before him. to no ones shock but his intense disappointment, he couldn't. his next goal was immortality. invincibility. you cannot form an emperor if you cannot die, cannot be killed. he studied the onyx cobra, and its effects on genes--gembond and its petrifying nature. he was his first subject--total petrification of the body. and it worked, in a way. he has not died. he has lived far longer than any imperial he has ever met. his flesh and scale have solidified into rippling marble, warded with magic. and now he seeks to spread this gift.
