Biography

You approach two dragon chatting amiably on the far side of the lair, one a scarred white tundra, the other a lithe black mirror with green speckled wings. The mirror offers a clawed hand for introduction. "Hello, I'm Ikliss! Pleasure to meet a fellow traveler. I've just returned from the Viridian Labyrinth myself, it's quite lovely this time of year." She laughs as her friend, a tundra named Aussir, cooly introduces himself. "Don't mind Aussir, he's never been a talkative one. What brings you here: me, him, or simple curiosity?" She listens diligently as you describe your reasons and offers to help as best she can. When you eventually leave, she turns her attention back to her friend to continue their conversation.

~The Wandering Traveler~
BackstoryGrowing up in a wind clan meant near-constant travel, and Ikliss loved every minute of it. From the plains of Dragonhome to the winds of her home country, she wanted to see it all with her family. As Ikliss neared adulthood, the clan finally took a break from traveling in the Zephyr Steppes to raise a particularly large bunch of hatchlings, and Ikliss chose to split from the group briefly to continue her own travels. She and a handful of other left their temporary home with a promise to return once the hatchlings were ready to travel. After almost a year of travel, Ikliss returned home to find the makeshift lair destroyed and her clanmates buried under a somber line of gravestones. By the looks of it, another clan had found them and mercifully given them a proper burial. Ikliss stayed for almost a week mourning her clanmates, then took the battered clan history book that her clan had always kept and left. Not knowing what to do, she wandered aimlessly for a while, hopping from place to place and offering small favors to clans in exchange for temporary housing. On one trip to the Tangled Woods, she met a lone, injured tundra named Aussir, and assisted him in dressing his wounds and taking refuge in the nearby lair of Clan Phantom. She stayed with Aussir until he healed, and over the course of that time, the two developed a close friendship. She left for her travels soon after Aussir's recovery, but promised to return periodically. She has done well in keeping that promise, and her clanmates can expect her to swing by at least once every month. On one particular trip to her homelands, Ikliss came across a tragic scene: a wind clan slain by some violent rival and left to rot where they fell. Ikliss took the time to bury the dead dragons and labeled their graves as best she could, and while doing this, she came across the still-living egg of the clan's leader. Ikliss took the egg, as well as a few of the mother's possessions, and carried them back to Clan Phantom, where the resulting hatchling, named Cassin, was raised by Hyra and Kaz. On another trip, this one to the Shifting Expanse, Ikliss came across a lost tundra hatchling named Nuara, who had become seperated from her family in a sandstorm. Though Ikliss searched long and hard, Nuara's parents were nowhere to be found, so she brought the tiny tundra back to Clan Phantom. Shy Nuara somehow became attached to Aussir, and both Aussir and Ikliss became something of a haphazard set of surrogate parents to Nuara. While on yet another trip, this one in Dragonhome, Ikliss got caught up in a battle between an earth clan and some powerful undead. When the fighting went south, Ikliss was sent away with their only unhatched egg, and a promise to the mother that only the most trustworthy of dragons would raise her child. Ikliss took the egg straight to Aussir, then returned to the earth clan, only to find them all dead or missing. Djoda, who hatched from the egg, knows nothing of her clan's tragedy, but Ikliss knows she soon may grow curious enough to ask. Despite her many encounters with tradedy, Ikliss remains an optimistic dragon. She finds joy in many places, from her many travels to her quiet moments with her sort-of family. Ikliss is very knowledgeable about the world of Sornieth, and will readily share exciting stories and bits of knowledge with anyone, particularly curious hatchlings. She has a bit of an altruistic streak when it comes to clans in need, and often helps the clans she stays with on her journeys with tasks both great and small. |
