Aussir

You approach two dragon chatting amiably on the far side of the lair, one a scarred white tundra, the other a lithe black mirror with green speckled wings. The tundra looks up as you arrive and shake hands with his companion, meeting your eyes with a cool and steady gaze.
"Greetings," he says in a measured voice, "I am Aussir. And you are?" He waits while you introduce yourself, then continues. "Well, I can't imagine what business you would have with me, unless you're here for Ikliss." He gestures to the mirror beside him, who waves in a friendly manner. "If you have business with neither of us, I suggest you move on, as we're in the middle of a conversation."
Aussir turns back to his conversation as you walk away, continuing as though you had not interrupted.

Aussir was born into one of two warring ice clans, both of which were made up almost entirely of tundras who had long since forgotten the reason for their feud. Aussir, as a skilled ice mage, quickly rose through the ranks of his clan, helping them to win several key battles. In the midst of one of these battles, though, he was badly injured and left for dead by his clanmates.
As he lay on the battlefield, bleeding, he realized that the this battle, and the entire war, were completely pointless without a memory of the purpose. He was able to summon enough healing magic to keep him from dying, and in this injured state he fled the Icefields, believing that he could never change his clanmates' minds (and subconsciously, perhaps, unwilling to save those who had left him behind).
Aussir crashed into the Tangled Woods a few days later, starving, tired, and still weak from injuries. It was there he first encountered the wandering mirror dragoness Ikliss. She helped him dress his wounds with proper bandages, and the two took refuge with Clan Phantom while Aussir healed. By the time he was back to full health, the two had both grown fond of the clan, and Aussir decided to stay full-time, while Ikliss made it her home-between-travels. Despite Ikliss's many disappearances, she and Aussir became very close friends. She remains the only dragon who knows the full extent of Aussir's life story, the details of which he keeps vague when talking to others in the clan.
When Ikliss brought a tiny, terrified tundra hatchling named Nuara back to the clan, Aussir didn't think too much of it until the little one decided to all but glue herself to his side. He was a bit taken aback by this, but eventually grew used to her presence and even became fond of her. Just as well, as Wraith soon decided he would be her caretaker, and Aussir became a very confused first-time dad. Despite his initial misgivings, Aussir did well as a father, and even ended up caring for an abandoned earth egg (also brought back by Ikliss) which hatched into a nocturne he named Djoda. Together, they and Ikliss form an odd but close family unit.
Aussir is somewhat aloof and unemotional, preferring practicality over sentimentality, and his war experience has left him tough and a bit jaded. He is, however, quite loyal to the clan that has sheltered him, and he loves his two adopted daughters dearly even if he isn't always great at saying so. Aussir carries around a battered notebook in which he writes reminders and important things, as his past has taught him the importance of remembering. Ikliss and Aussir are very close friends, and though many clanmates speculate that they might be more (especially since they are raising two daughters together), the two have thus far denied such a connection.
