Biography
![](/rendern/portraits/90495/9049436p.png)
Treeko is named after my Tripod kitten, not the pokemon.
I first got Treeko Saturday September 6th at 2:30 a.m. Mountain Time. I was just starting my work day at Cactus Pete's in Jackpot, When a pair of ladies walked into the Horse Shu across the street. They grabbed my Coworker, and told him quote "I just drove here from Wells, and I think there's a cat in my engine." He called security to ask for help, and I happened to here the words "injured cat" over the radio, so I rushed over to help.
When I got there, the two ladies were looking under their car where the injured feline now rested on the pavement. I got down on my hands and knees, and saw the cat was actually a tiny kitten, no mare than 3 months old and extremely underfed. It held its right fore paw at such an angle it was obvious that it was indeed broken. After coaxing/chasing it under a white utility van, I managed to crawl under the van and retrieve the kitten from above the transmission.
I brought the injured kitten into the Horse Shu, where My coworker was still awaiting security. He was relieved that we'd rounded up the kitten, but then we were left with what would happen to it. The ladies did not want it, they were just barely starting out on a long awaited road trip. Jackpot, as it turns out, does not have any sort of animal controll. I volunteered to take it home, and it spent the rest of the day, until 10:00 A.M. under my desk in an empty utility towel box.
As soon as I got home I fed the poor starved thing- whom I'd also shared about a quarter of my lunch with- and called around to see if there were any veteranarians open after 12:00 P.M. I found one, and immediately rushed her( as I found out later) in to see how bad her arm was broken. $200 dollars in x-rays and medication later I found out that the arm was broken in 7 places and shattered at the elbow, and irrepairable. Another $500 later she was an amputee kitten, easily making a full recovery.
I had seen lots of cats and dogs missing limbs, and actually still have a partially crippled cat, but I had never taken in a tripod myself, so the next few weeks were nerve racking. I instinctively wanted to baby her, but at the same time I knew she needed to strent hen her legs on her own. I needen't have worried at all, she gets on just fine and really proves the fact that all kittens are secretly evil.
