Always pretending that we should know best.
We are the ends to our own lives,
Flitting through tragedy as though we are flies.
Some claim to see light filtered through darkness,
It is those men who are truly the heartless.
They rule our lives through subjugation and threat,
Claiming that they would see none live so bereft.
All of our lives are filled with such lies,
Our hearts are broken by the end of such ties.
We live each life in secret and shame,
All the while thinking we're winning the game.
The world in nothing more than a sinister plot,
Our lives are just something time easily forgot.
It is such a shame that we seem to have forgotten
That is was man that first become rotten.
