Feral Pallid

Becoming Pallid is a fate far worse than becoming a Ghoul. These dragons are outcast, alone, and there is no known cure for their condition. A Palllid has little to no coloration,if they do have brighter colors then they’re freshly infected and cannot transmit their condition yet, as they worsen they lose the ability to fly and begin to lose their appetite. As their color fades their interest in finding a swarm becomes an obsession, pushing them to stop eating completely, eventually appearing as a living skeleton roaming the wastes in search of a swarm to join. This condition can pass between Veilspuns through the scales of the Pallid’s wings shedding off in small flakes, or through direct contact with the Pallid, when getting rid of these dragons many Veils resort to magic or leaving the area completely. If a swarm does become infected it will break down within a few weeks as the sickness spreads, leading to the swarm breaking apart completely. One Pallid can bring down a swarm of hundreds. They are bad omens and avoided at all costs. Many try to seek a life of solitude but the call to a swarm is too much for these outcasts to bear and they actively seek them out.

What causes these dragons is currently unknown, many Veilspun’s believe they are Veils who were punished by the Shadowbinder for turning their back on her, caught by their scorned goddess just before making it to the trial grounds. Draining them of their colors and twisting their minds so all they know is to search for swarms, drawn only to those chosen by the Plaguebringer, and making the condition spread only to spite the goddess of the wastelands. However, this is only a theory created by very superstitious Veilspuns, but there could be truth behind their fears. As more Pallids have begun to move across the wastelands some Veils have noted they’ve felt drawn to them, almost like the Pallid was imitating the calls or scent of a lone queen looking to create a swarm. The Council is investigating these strange dragons, and have so far found that only Veilspuns risk becoming Pallid and other breeds are safe at this time.

- - -

Pallids are easy to spot with their bleak colors and gaunt frames. Pallids have no swarms and so far have not been observed creating their own. While many Veilspuns claim the Pallid are cursed by the Shadowbinder there does not seem to be any basis for this rumor. Whatever the Pallid are, they are very dangerous and are a serous threat to Necromantic Veilspun

- - -

Before now Pallids were believed to travel alone, forever seeking and unable to form swarms of their own. However, it seems that the sickness infecting them has evolved. Feral Pallids, named after their resemblance to feral dogs, have large and sharp teeth with a mist of spores and magic surrounding their mouths. These Pallids travel in packs spanning from a handful to several thousand. They are like airborn piranhas and more dangerous than the average Pallid, if a Feral Pallid is seen sulking near a clan it would be in the best interest for all parties if the clan moved.
