Technically, she shares leadership with her younger brothers but in reality, she’s the one in charge. Casper’s the judge and record keeper, but there’s not much that needs that needs judging: Kiuvuik is a small clan. Besides, he’s far happier curating the library with Loris. Eden’s a little young for a military commander, though Kiuvuik’s pacifist nature (and lack of army) makes that a non-issue. Still, he has Beska and Origin to guide him should the need arise.
Thus the responsibility falls entirely on Imogen, who, for her part, rises to the challenge. She does everything from day-to-day managing (things like scheduling jobs, negotiating usage of Kiuvuik's pier, talking to local beastclan, sending out patrols) to organizing trade alliances and settling territorial disputes. It’s a stressful job, but she thrives. Imogen has impeccable (and color-coded!) organization systems that turn running the clan from an anxiety-inducing challenge to a much more manageable job.
Sometimes the stress of leadership does get to her, though usually not for long: her long-time girlfriend Strawberry is a comforting presence. Berry seems to have a sixth-sense for when Imogen is about to reorganize the entire transaction history in an anxious fit, and will usually waltz in to distract with cuddles.
PAST
Imogen was adopted by Chalie and Jasper, the clan founders. She knows that she was hatched by Chalie. She also knows that, while Chalie has very little qualms about crime, she wouldn’t just steal an egg. Thus, Imogen isn't quite sure how her mother got an unhatched Arcane egg and has made the executive decision that it’s probably better if she doesn’t ask.
She has two younger brothers, Casper (five years younger, 'adopted' in a similar fashion) and Eden (seven years younger, whose parentage they don’t talk about). Imogen mostly raised herself and, later Casper as well. Chalie became much more distant when Casper was a small child during the move to Wind. Imogen cares deeply for Casper and often mothers him.
Imogen met Strawberry quite a bit later. Berry was 15 and just recently out of two disastrous years at a Light seminary, with a young Tarn mysteriously in tow, both looking for a place to live. Imogen, 13 at the time, found the two around the borders of the territory while gathering. She immediately brought the pair of them back to the clan. Chalie was reluctant to let them in, but after a loud screaming match where Imogen declared that she would follow Berry to the ends of the earth, the two were allowed to join. Imogen and Berry's relationship developed quickly after that.
Imogen officially took over the clan when she was 20. Chalie had been pining for her home in Shadow and muttering about moving the whole group again when Imogen suggested splitting off, with most of the dragons staying in the Reedcleft Ascent with Imogen and those who liked the Drag following Chalie. There was a brief argument about which would be the main clan and which would be the satellite colony, but Imogen forced Chalie to confront the fact that Imogen had been running the clan pretty much entirely on her own for the past three years. Chalie backed down and Imogen became the official leader under the condition that she share the leadership with her brothers.
Strawberry is Imogen’s other half. They’re stupid in love. It’s sickening. With how in tune they are with one another, it’s often a surprise that Imogen’s charge bond is pretty weak. She doesn’t get premonitions and only rarely feels the need to guard, although that could also be that Berry doesn’t do many risky things.
Casper occupies a special place in Imogen’s heart. She desperately wants to see him happy and lets him slide on being a leader so he can pursue his interest in the library. He’s very grateful and tries to let Imogen know that he appreciates everything she’s done for him and Eden.
Imogen and Eden have somewhat of a more distant relationship. Imogen feels like she didn’t do enough to help him and Eden feels like he doesn’t know how to talk to her after years of being raised as if they were completely unrelated. They’re both friendly to each other but it’s strained and not comfortable for either of them.
Imogen has very mixed feelings for Chalie, most of them negative. Chalie acquired Imogen through unknown but sketchy means then basically left her alone. She’s a horrible mother, but the only one Imogen’s ever known. It’s for the best they don’t talk anymore.
