Biography

Vykos Rhinanthus
Anomaly 3022: Strange Starwood Knight

-They/them but refers to themselves as "we", Unclear
-Anomaly was first discovered right on our very doorstep within the sleepy dockside town of the Starwood Strand by some concerned tourists who reported the anomalies existence directly to our SAR offices. The reports stated simply enough that while exploring some of the signature woodland surrounding the town, the witnesses had been approached by a strange dragon dressed all in old, worn armour within the woods that at first seemed like a very disoriented fellow traveller. Moving in a very odd, stiff and clumsy manner better befitting a hatchling learning to walk than a fully grown dragon with this odd sour smell to them. When they got a closer look, they'd slowly realize that the being before them wasn't a living dragon. The ruined armour had a variety of twisting branches and roots growing out of it, adorned in the signature glowing leaves and flowers of the Starwood Strand's trees, and through the gaps of metal and winding plants they could see only the lifeless remains of the dragon that had once inhabited this shell. Unable to speak to them in full sentences, as if struggling to manipulate its own mouth. And only ever moving when sighted during the night, resuming its 'natural state' as an overgrown corpse during daylight hours. Few travellers stuck around for long after this encounter. It didn't take staff too long to figure out the anomalies general location based on the reports, and a team was dispatched to contain them. Containment was a relatively pain free process. The anomaly showed no ability to truly resist and displayed a degree of confusion about what was happening, making it easy to escort them into standard containment for further observation and study of their bizarre condition.
-It's been many moons since their initial containment, and staff has been able to do a lot of work with the very passive anomaly to help not only understand their condition themselves but help the anomaly understand its own existence and the world around them. They have since learned to speak enough from our staff to form full sentences, though they speak very literally and often rudely due to their lack of knowledge of social rules and of language itself, but it's rarely seemingly meant that way. They hold no clear resentment towards staff at all - in fact, they've been very co-operative, due to us providing them safe quarters, care and education they would otherwise have no access to. They've done a lot of good work in learning to move better as well, and can get around about as well as any flightless dragon. With their new found understanding and friendliness, it's since been easier to understand their situation. They speak of themselves as being the very plants that have grown over their skeletal body, having long ago claimed it for themselves and devoured it but only recently having gained a sense of sentience in the way that a dragon experiences sentience after being fed a strange substance by a passing stranger. Whatever this substance was, it greatly enhanced the magical properties of the plants (now referred to as Vykos Rhinanthus by our scientific team) as well as altered them, resulting in again this sense of intelligence as well as their observed nocturnal cycle, general aversion to strong light, and strict meat diet. Theories are being floated as to who the culprit was, but for now, staff are focused on their education and health.
-Not Permitted, we don't entirely understand how their parasitism works just yet.

Containment Procedure
-Threat Level: Safe.
Anomaly is considered a non-threat and allowed observed socialization with all personnel following personalized containment procedures.

-Anomaly is to be contained in one (1) standard room with enough space necessary for rest and recreation. This room is to contain one (1) standard bed, dimmed lights, no windows, two (2) bookcases of a mix of educational and fictional books suitable for anomalies current reading level that are to be regularly switched out as they progress through them, one (1) standard desk, one (1) set of writing utensils, one (1) journal and several educational textbooks to be filled out by anomaly when desired. Two (2) Clearance Level 1 guards are to be on hand at all times.
-Anomaly is to be escorted by two (2) Clearance Level 2 guards and one (1) researcher at all times when out of containment, preferably with someone skilled in Light or Nature magic.
-Samples of anomaly are to be destroyed when research has concluded, and kept in very strict conditions to ensure containment isn't breached. Please speak with ██████████ for further details on our research procedures if you wish to sample and study anomaly.
-In the event of a containment breach, contact the nearest dragon with Light magic available and stop anomaly. Strong lights cause an adverse reaction in anomaly, and will either make it back away from the source or stop everything its doing to become inanimate again, providing a reliable method of containment.
-██████████ is currently running arranging the possibility of letting 3022 and 3053 meet for a supervised lesson held by the staff. If you'd be interested in helping out with these lessons, please contact them.
