It's a dangerous business, turning inward and digging through your soul. Some find monsters, some find transformative truth—I unleased a spring.

I was flooded.

The waters filled me with an unquenchable thirst. Suddenly I wanted everything and beyond. My legs itched to gallop and my wings ached to tear me through life with a passion that could burn the sun. I wanted to plunge myself into every emotion until I reached the bottom of the well inside, then bound outward to dig out what else the world could offer. I yearned to swing from the stars, soar with the birds, and capture fire in my hands. I swallowed the waterfall that sprung from my soul and wanted it to pour onto others so we could wear our feet to bone from dancing through the night and devour the world in famished glory together.

It was life. It was light. It was fire and ice and storm and love.

It was tragedy.

Because now I know how dreams die. I lie in the dirt and claw at the tunnel that caved in. The weight of my burdened exhaustion had buried my spring, turning my fountain of youth into the barest trickle. A despairing reminder of the empty cup I had become. I can only beg the pressure that locked it up would be my savior, building until it erupted with a momentum that could shoot me to the stars and once again leave me with a thirst only satisfiable by the entire world.
