While born in the land of Shadow, Cottoncandy showed an affinity for the magical arts akin to those in the land of Arcane. While only partially knowledgeable in Draconic, he looked far and wide across The Tangled Wood for a mage that would teach him the intricacies of magic. Magi are rare in The Tangled Wood, out of a fear, deeply seeded in ignorance, that Magi of Shadow are one and the same as Magi allied with The Shade. And even more so, one that would understand Coatl?

It took plenty of looking, plenty of asking around, and even threading outside his homeland, but CC's undying resolve carried him all the way, when one day, within the Windswept Plateau, he came across a group of Magi welcoming aprentices of all species and flights. It was there that, mentored by a mage fluent in Coatl, Cottoncandy learned the ways and laws of the Magi.

It was also under this tutoring that he met a fellow aprentice, and future life partner, Quetzacoatl...

Having learned all that could be taught by a teacher and sworn to use their magic only the supervision of a leader, Cottoncandy and Quetzalcoatl went off together to try and find a clan to serve. Soon enough, they crossed paths with a rapidly growing clan, with the need of someone inventive in the magic ways to help them in their expansions.

Lucky them, Cottoncandy's enthusiastic attitude and inventive nature, as well as Quetzacoatl's intelect and experimental ways, gave them that twofold.
