____After a long month of training, Annular felt he was strong enough to head off on his own. He would miss his home clan dearly, but the young ridgeback longed to see the world beyond the Windswept Plateau…

____Phobos had directed the newcomer to talk to Julep about getting signed in with the log book. The dragoness had been so excited to meet another dragon who wanted to visit their clan. She had been very kind to him and set him up with a temporary lair to sleep in between visits to the coliseum with Avarice and Hati. The two much more powerful dragons had been very helpful in his training and he was ready to head off once more.

____Feeling restless after a long flight spent coasting warm air currents, Annular decided to stop and catch a quick meal. Angling his wings to drift out of the channel, he landed softly on the candy colored grass. Slowly he crept toward a rustling sound in the undergrowth, noting with slight apprehension the strangeness of the plant life. At least I hope its only plant life here, he thought. Lunging into the brush he saw that the noise wasn't prey, but a pearlcatcher sparing with a familiar. The dragon whirled around immediately revealing striking pale eyes. "Sorry, I didn't hear you there. You're from?" the dragon inquired breathlessly. "I should ask be asking you the same thing", Annular replied. "There doesn't seem to be much out here." The pearlcatcher laughed before replying, "That's where you're wrong, follow me and I'll take you to my clan." The dragons walked along a sharp spattering of crystals before reaching the tree where the community lived. He was delighted to find them all so welcoming, but it did occur to him that it was strange he'd never once seen their matriarch. Before he knew it he had lived with them for several months, growing accustomed to their way of life. He loved the sense of belonging they had cultivated with each other, but he knew it was time to fly again.

____A glint of light caught his attention as he flew threw the air. Curious, he angled himself downward to investigate the source. No sooner than he landed he found himself almost smothered by numerous dragons who had flocked to the newcomer in haste, their excited voices all blending together into an unintelligible hum.
Annular looked around in bewilderment, unsure how he would ever free himself, when a small figure appeared beside him and nudged him out from amidst the crowd. He looked down and saw a gentle Coatl beaming up at him. She introduced herself as Soulorolla, apologising for the chaos and explaining that the clan was young and had never met a traveller before. Annular smiled, her matter-of-fact, motherly demeanour instantly putting him at ease. Something told him that he would enjoy his time here.
