Illyan is a curious dragon, and has a nose- literally and figuratively!- for the fantastic, the historical and the undiscovered. She isn't a rude dragon, per se, but she has a tendency to be blunt, and her tact isn't the best. She also is easily distracted by her interests and her work. As a result, not many dragons are able to work past the first few interactions and stick around to become her friend, so she doesn't have many friends. Illyan isn't entirely perturbed by her small social circle, as she isn't entirely interested in the living, anyway. Her focus is on the past, so the future may learn. She is an experience and and enthusiastic archaeologist devoted to learning and preserving the past. Unfortunately, her love of history has caused more than one issue. Being from Dragonhome itself, Illyan was born with a desire to learn about and preserve dragon past. She studied in various groups near the pillar's shattered remains, then in the painted caves of the Greatwyrm Crevasse. When she was old enough, she was given permission to delve into the Cairnstone Rest with a team to learn more about protecting the ancient burial ground. As usual, Illyan's blunt nature had the others pushing her away from the main body of the group, and she was left to research on her own- something she was used to, and okay with. Lost in her work, she found a large bone, and fascinated, as it didn't smell or look like anything she knew of in her extensive notes, she set to work digging it up. To her horror, the bone began to move, as it was attached to a slumbering wyrm who'd been unearthed during a previous mining excavation. The group was chased from the Rest, the great skeletal wyrm only ceasing its chase when the intruders had fled its domain. Though it hadn't been Illyan's fault the wyrm had been exposed, the group blamed her for its attack, and she was removed from the local archaeology guild. Devastated, Illyan fled Dragonhome entirely, and her travels brought her to the Tangled Wood. She was greeted by a soft spoken Ridgeback, who was gathering tablets from the ruins near the Forum of the Obscured Crescent. The two chatted, and Illyan found a fellow historian in the Ridgeback, who invited her to join her clan and study in their Athanaeum. Illyan accepted, and found a place in the massive library. Illyan still has a wanderlust, homesickness and the urge to learn more about more locations, and the itch to travel constantly stirs in her bones. Who knows when she will travel again- and where those travels will take her....
