Nihilomen

Nihilomen had found salvation.

There were still nights when he woke gasping, plagued by the memory of old wounds and, worst of all, a sense of helplessness. Mirror dragons, even outside of Plague territory, could not be weak. But Nil had failed. His pack had left him on the hunting trail with a centaur spear buried in his leg, because only the strong could survive… or so he had been taught.

But when he had dragged himself to a nearby cave and collapsed, waiting to bleed out or starve, he had met someone who thought differently. That memory was soothing: a tiny fae, veiled in bright colors, had suddenly appeared on the stone in front of his dimming eyes. He had thought her a hallucination until she commanded quietly, “Get up. Your clan needs you.”

So Nil got up, and he followed her. He swore he always would.

He was strong now – strong because of the dragon who trusted him as her confidante, and because of the clan who stood beside them.

This pack would not leave him behind.
