Biography

Introduction:

Pheobus looks up from the scroll he's scribbling in, giving you a polite smile. "Ah, hello. I'm a bit busy at the moment, but I always try to make time for visitors. Do you need anything?" You peer curiously at the scroll he was writing in. His feathers twitch as he perks up. "Ah! My notes. You see, I was hatched in the clan, and growing up, I always wanted to learn more about the clan that raised me. Imagine my horror when I found out no one had been documenting our history. So, I got to work. Asked every dragon I could, and now, we have a solid timeline for the history of our clan." Phoebus grins, his feathers fluffing with pride. "Of course, the clan's history is growing as we speak, so I have to make sure I keep note of everything." He nods towards the scroll. "Curious to learn how the clan got to this point?"

History:

It started with an abandoned fae egg, hidden from sight, alone and cold. A roaming pack of mirrors stumbled across the egg. The pack searched for who could have parented the egg, but there wasn't another dragon in sight. The pack took the egg in, not knowing what lay inside. A tiny fae poked her head out, leaving the mirrors stumped. Nobody understood her unique body language. She felt isolated, until a mirror her age made an effort to learn. They formed their own form of body language, getting to know each other better than any other dragon in the pack. These became the founders of the clan, Zake and Shaye. When Shaye came of age, she knew she couldn't stay. She longed for a place where she could fit in. Zake was resolute, sticking by her side as the pair searched for a place to call their own. Settling in the Zephyr Steppes, they were a small, easygoing clan. The pair didn't mind this, however. They didn't want a grand, notorious clan, they just wanted somewhere to call home.

Then, Luminax rose. The news spread quickly, shaking all of Sornieth. Shaye felt her heart sink. So many innocent dragons had been displaced or killed...she couldn't just stand idly! She, Zake, and any other members of the clan who wished to remain began to fly towards the Sunbeam Ruins, bringing everything of use that they could. They set up camp on the border of the Shifting Expanse and the Sunbeam Ruins, also bordering the Sea Of A Thousand Currents so that those not used to the arid landscape could make the flight over and get a reprieve. Those fleeing into lightning territory found refuge in the small camp. Some were only there for a short rest before continuing their flight, while others were staying there in wait, figuring out what to do next. Many who were a part of the camp would scout the border, searching for those in need of aid. It one during one of those many scouting missions that they found a lost Mirror hatchling, a child of light already having to flee her home. Shaye felt her heart crack as she saw the trembling hatchling wobble into camp. She named the hatchling Ningal, with her and Zake adopting her as their own. The young mirror, after being raised among them, had developed a strong loyalty to the clan. This was where she belonged. This was her pack.

Time passed, and although Luminax was still a looming threat, dragons had learned to adapt and live around the deadly emperor. Fewer dragons panicking meant fewer dragons needing the camp. Many of the refugees from the Sunbeam Ruins had left the camp, either returning to their home with a lot more caution than before, or migrating to a different, more established camp. After all, the camp was never a "real" clan. Rumors began to spread about what the camp's fate would be until Zake and Shaye approached Ningal with a proposition. Ningal was by far the most dedicated to the clan, and they knew that if anyone was going to lead them to a brighter future, it was her. They wanted to return to the Windswept Plateau and establish themselves as a haven for those who needed it, like the lightning camp, but a little more...welcoming. The Shifting Expanse was a harsh, unforgiving desert after all, it wasn't exactly "haven" material. Ningal led the trek back to the home of the Windsinger, aiding an injured mirror and an orphaned nocturne along the way. They settled in Singers Brook, finding the lush, easygoing atmosphere to suit them well. The clan was finally given a name, calling themselves the "Stormspirits," due to their strong, wild spirits, as well as a nod to their roots in both lightning and wind. Ningal knew she would stop at nothing to make her clan the best clan it could be. A banescale named Inferno joined the clan not long after they had settled, finding himself becoming Ningal's right hand.

The clan grew swiftly, becoming known for their accepting, free nature. Many who had been exiled or shunned sought them out in hopes of being accepted. Ningal was always hesitant about exiling dragons from the clan. This clan was founded on the idea of accepting those who were misunderstood or outcasts, if she were to exile someone, what would that say for the clan's "accepting nature?" Then, an aberration named Barett joined the clan, and Ningal quickly found where to draw the line. Barett was a cruel dragon, ripping away his brother's free will so he could have sole control over their body. Ningal tried so hard to understand and accept him, but she couldn't push her morals aside for the sake of their image. Barett became the clan's first exile, with more following. Barett grew bitter and spiteful, beginning to take in those who had been exiled and forming a group of their own. Members of the Stormspirit clan have begun reporting unprompted attacks near their borders from familiar-looking dragons...

Location:

In the modern day, the Stormspirits camp has grown into a small yet lively village, with a few different districts to make sure its members are comfortable.

There's the verdant district, which is an open, sunny, grassy plain in the middle of their territory, mostly populated by arcane, nature, and wind dragons. It is considered the primary district of the clan, as well as the largest.

Then there's the obsidian district, a network of dark tunnels and caves carved into a rocky outcropping within their territory, a popular spot for shadow, earth, and plague dragons.

The daylily district is a clifftop named after the thriving population of daylilies. The warm sun beams down on the grassy ledge, making it a common place for light, fire, and lightning dragons.

The crystal district is a population of dragons underneath a large, shady overhang. Brooks of cool, crystal-clear water weave through the area, with many water and ice dragons calling this district home.

Despite the separation of districts, the clan is tight-knit, freely wandering from district to district.

The Elementals:

"Ah, you're wondering about that out-of-place camp over there, huh? Well, that would be the home of the elemental mirrors or just the elementals for short. They're a pack of, well...mirrors that help us keep in other clan's good graces. It helps to have a dragon that can speak for each flight." Pheobus pauses in thought for a moment. "...actually, I have a theory about them, if you're willing to hear me out. One moment." Pheobus whisks towards a bookshelf, tugging a worn, aged scroll off the shelf. "This scroll was written a long time ago by an unknown dragon. It didn't seem like anything special to me until I thought about it.." He delicately unfurls the scroll.

"It tells the story of a band of traveling sorcerers, one from each flight, flying across Sornieth to spread a message of peace. When they were nearing the end of their lives, each dragon returned to their respective territories and simply...disappeared. Nobody has seen the group since, not even their bodies. The author then writes down a myriad of theories about what could have happened to them, but there's one that stands out to me." Pheobus points towards the bottom of the scroll. "The author writes that some believe the sorcerers let their physical forms dissolve into nothing but energy, their spirits roaming Sornieth as we speak" Pheobus rolls the scroll back up. "I believe that their spirits may still live on in our pack of ambassadors, in one way or another. It may seem a tad...farfetched, but stranger things have happened." Pheobus shakes his head and sighs. "I have far too much work to do to linger on such a theory, but it does occasionally plague my thoughts."
