Biography
" As High Commander of the Emberguard, the Sovereign's safety is my responsibility. Nobody gets past me - least of all someone like you. "
Both strangers and friends alike can agree that Luqin has an unfortunate amount of self-esteem. While he is no braggart, he flaunts his skill to everyone, much to their chagrin. Luqin knows he can get away with this arrogance because of his prodigious skill with the qiang and his impressive reputation as a faultless soldier. His claims to prestige have merit, so why shouldn't he brag? Being the Commander of the Emberguard sees Luqin frequently communicating with Xianhong, the Captain of the Smoulderguard. As their respective organizations are so contrasting, it is guaranteed that these two will have conflicting interests. Luqin's personal history with Xianhong further complicates matters: in their youth, the two had both been trained under the martial masters of the Banded Tiger Clan, regularly competing for the attention of their mentors. Luqin's arrogant personality has only worsened since then, though Xianhong is much less receptive to it now. Luqin's first memories are of the mountains. He remembers being nameless. At only eight years old, he found himself in the wreckage of a village, abandoned save for the corpses. Terrified, he fled the destruction. For months, he wandered through the wilderness, living off the grasses and insects in the woods. After some time, he was found by a herbalist, who brought him back to TBA. There, he was taken in by the herbalist’s family, the Guis, and given the name Wuwen. The child learned that the Guis were one of the many families that made up the Banded Tiger Clan. They were renowned for their battle prowess, something Wuwen became enamoured with. He begged his adoptive parents to let him train as a warrior, to let him learn from the masters of war, to train in the way of the spear and sword and bow. But they TBA He is where he needs to be, and he's happy for it. But his missing memories haunt him constantly: how did he lose them? Why did he lose them? And what - or who - took them from him? |
