Eliore lost himself at some point, certainly years ago.
The clan that initially found him would tell him it seemed his mind had been magically - purposefully - wiped clean, with a depth and severity they'd never seen before.
It would take a year after for him to be able to speak properly again, and countless more for his latent abilities as a healer to finally reemerge.

Any attempts to draw out memories of his life prior to meeting them was for naught; he would tell them he couldn't remember even a trace of it, but that was a lie. In truth, he occasionally had glimpses - feverish and abstract as they were - into a distant past. A castle of gold, a uniform of fine fabrics, an elegant lover with a wry laugh...
But if he ever tried to focus on these memories, to really picture his home, his clothing, her face, he would swiftly be overwhelmed with a terror beyond reason.
So he said he saw nothing, and continued on as a blank slate, hoping to integrate into his new clan as well as he could.

And so he did until the clan was no more, having slowly dissolved in ranks until there was no point for the remaining few members to stay together. He began to wander once more, thankfully no longer quite as helpless as before.

And, eventually, he would encounter someone familiar...

_{_{"Seer," the fae said with a calm but authoritative tone, "tell me what you are seeing."

The nocturne nodded, his eyes shut tightly as he absorbed all the information the ocean of constellations swirling within his mind told him.

He let out a soft gasp as the scene within his mind became clearer.

The fae's crests vibrated with curiosity and impatience as she studied the psychic closely.

"I see a great darkness ahead," he breathed, eyes still shut and brow knitted in concern. "A great battle is coming, and is certain to centre around this lair. A tremendous, damaging storm, all because--" another gasp, and the nocturne fell silent. His eyes flicked open, wide with fear.

"Because of what," the fae stated, dropping her carefully learned speech patterns and reverting to the breed's monotone.

"I... I believe I am mistaken," the nocturne replied, fear vanishing from his face in place of a polite, apologetic smile. "I see... a true storm coming ahead, clan leader Pepper. I misunderstood the stars: they are often metaphoric, but in this case, it was simply... what it says on the tin. Prepare for a storm after the thaw. I suggest fortifying the higher-reaching levels of this lair."

"I see," the fae replied darkly. "Are you positive of this, clan seer?"

He nodded quickly before dipping forward in a deep bow. "Yes, clan leader. If I see anything else, I'll be certain to let you know immediately.

"Very well," the fae nodded. "You are dismissed for now."

"Thank you," the nocturne said with a warm smile. He turned and flitted off in the direction of his living quarters, eyes wide with horror as he rushed to speak with his mate.
