Biography
Nakht
Shadowed Sanctuary | Scribe
Shadowed Sanctuary | Scribe
Someone who'd rather deal with documents than other dragons, Nakht is not the most personable individual. She tends to be blunt in her speech and is not afraid to let others know when she thinks they're wasting her time. Fortunately, she has learned to be gentler with younger dragons and hatchlings, though her patience for them while awake is deeply limited. She prefers to spend her free time engaged in solo pursuits and will disappear for days at a time if her duties let her. As Stop's legally appointed scribe, Nakht is generally in charge of all the documentation related to the happenings of the Shadowed Sanctuary that she feels should be recorded for posterity. She also gathers and organized auxiliary documents such as flyers for sanctuary hosted events or copies of artistic or intellectual works done by sanctuary dragons. She has also undertaken efforts to gather the stories of sanctuary dragons before such things pass out of living memory. While she's generally not thrilled with the collection process of the stories, the growing collection makes it all worth it. |
Born in the wrong age, Nakht dreamed of being an oracle of the Tidelord since she was still wet from her egg. Unfortunately, the deity's disappearance and her complete lack of any clairvoyant powers necessitated that Nakht do something else with her life. Thinking perhaps she could be the one to crack the mystery of the Tidelord's location, she set off from her home clan in the Fishspine Reef, traveling around Sornieth searching for any hint or hidden secret that could point her in the right direction. However, the clues she sought evaded her, and it was with increasing hopelessness that she continued her search. Tired and disillusioned, Nakht eventually called off her search in the Tangled Woods. The Sable city wasn't as nice as home in her estimation but being above the waves meant they were somewhat better connected to the news of the wider world. Beyond all this, Nakht fell in love with the city's archives. It wasn't due to the vast stores of meticulously organized documents they held, though that certainly was impressive, but the construction of the deeper levels of the building. Narrowing into twisting corridors carved into one of the large woody vines of the Foxfire Bramble, Nakht could easily imagine herself deep within the Shoredeep Presage. Loathed to leave the archives, Nakht initially only accepted the position as Stop's scribe due to a lack of other suitable dragons to fill the position. Her disdain for the work for the work lessened over time as she first found value in recording Stop's ideas for the posterity of his future generations and then began to slowly adopt some of what she felt were the more useful philosophies for herself. Nakht most prominently follows the balance of extremes, even going as far as to fully immerse herself in social activities once a year during The Sound. |
