Biography

Ping Melodious and Valla for Shadow/Black/Violet babies

Ping Melodious for Shadow/Black/Violet babies

She wondered what her parents looked like. Certainly nothing like herself, she knew that much from the greenness of her eyes. What she didn't know was when something had...changed. There was a vague remembrance. A brother next to her on her hatchday, but his form was blurry in her memory, obscured by the newness of her vision at the time that they were together. Purples, blacks, much like herself in that regard. Rough skin that was so similar to her own. They were not together long. It was not their purpose. These moments with her sibling and parents were nondescript. Surreal, may have been the better word. And things were so hectic.

There was talk of invasion. Frenzy over something new to the South. Some unknown kind lifting up in the night and swarming, abandoning eggs, tricks abounding, spreading throughout the realm. Her parents had made the difficult decision to split their clutch and send it to clans further from the border between Nature and Shadow. It was a matter of safety, they felt. Her hatchday arrived in her new clan, and it was evident that a trick had been played. The new dragons were master mimics; her egg had looked just like her brother's. But the tiny dragon with the ridges of scales looked nothing like the brother that hatched in a clan far away. The dragons that had showed up in the night and flitted at the border had played the ultimate trick, swapping one of their eggs into the nest and taking one without ever having been noticed. The magics of the realm had still worked on the egg, producing a Nocturne of pure lineage, but with the deep green eyes of one cradled within a Nature nest.

"Gwiber..." The one with the vibrant pink wings had crooned. She was massive and queenly and the little dragon had been in awe. "An odd name, but, well an odd case as well." It had been said with a smile. There was no resentment. This clan did not fear the newcomers.

Though she was welcome here, there would always be a sense that she didn't belong. Her eyes matched those born in the gardens, as did her childrens', but her lineage did not. There were recollections... she wasn't sure how real they may have been, of something intangible. Dark swirling mists, billowing and soothing in their quiet obscurity. She yearned for something she had never seen. There would never be an explanation as to what had happened.

An orphan came, not long after herself. Recovered from the border. Parentless as was she. He was taken into the clan. The first time she met him, she was stricken by the purple of his eyes, filled with some primal comfort. He, too, had flickering memories that made her familiar, and the bond grew. Thus, an unlikely pair was formed between the orphaned Imperial and the misplaced Nocturne. They know only love and friendship in their new clan, but the companionship of the other effervesced into something more. Something deep and tranquil. An understanding that the others could not know.

She and Xander raised several clutches, but with time, he grew restless. He felt that he would never truly be a part of the clan, despite Zeta's assurance that he was already. He felt the need to prove his worth in his adopted clan. Eventually, this obsession drove a wedge between Gwiber and Xander; he went to serve the Gladekeeper, hoping that he would prove himself in the eyes of his clanmates if he devoted his life to their god. Gwiber begged him to stay, but he left and took her familiar comfort with him. She grew cold and reached out to others, but no one could fill the void that her beloved mate left. Eventually, she turned to training, spending her days distracting herself with opponents, and bonding with two other clanmates, Priscilla and Bram, to form a team. In this fashion, she has risen to a position of a warrior within the clan. She remains largely aloof and to the point, unable, or perhaps unwilling, to let her guard down and get too close to someone else again.
