Premise is that they were born into the world because of some really complicated and gorey rituals, which is ironic bc they're supposed to be a pure being.
Born into a really insane cult, little creature was used as a sort of ... Hmm idk how to call it, "saint" figure? Worshipped but abused you could say. Everyone taking feathers from them and eventually entire wings to decorate facemasks and crowns (little creature was born with like 10+ wings that regrew)
Except because of the corrupt way in which they were born, plus the corruption around them and the abuse, the wings that regrew eventually became skeletal and more demonic, draconic. White stained permanently with red and their innocent face split into a maw full of jagged, black teeth
I also wanna say they were born blind hence the pale eyes compared to all the other red ones but dunno
