Key was found by Hilgeth and Merris on their yearly trip to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, alone in the dunes with only a replica of Sornieth hovering at her shoulder. The Clanmother immediately took the juvenile under her wing, watching over Key with the hope that perhaps she held some fantastic secret that would conclude Hilgeth's search.

The Sandsurge could not speak, but when asked about her name, she made a mark in the sand that resembled a key. Hilgeth has noticed a coordinate marked on the globe that belongs to her, but any attempt to manipulate or examine it further always leads to clouds covering the location. Hilgeth hopes that when Key has had some time to adjust, she will be able to reveal more.

At the moment, Key is beginning to speak.
