Akako, orphaned at a young age, spent most of his early years in the local orphanage, and while Life at the orphanage was adequate, there was barely any room for luxuries such as books or toys. The occupants had little fear of starving, or going to bed without a roof over their heads, but the lack of opportunities for recreation and entertainment left many idle with their senses dulled.

By chance, Akako had stumbled upon a cookbook. Reading its contents from the amount of literacy taught by his father prior to being orphaned, Akako took up cooking. The mundane meals usually served were swiftly replaced by hearty meals, lovingly prepared, and Akako found himself becoming a “big sibling” figure to the younger children around him.

Even as he outgrew the orphanage and began working at the Restkeep Tavern as an apprentice, his skills in cooking made him instantly popular. Combined with his kind and cheerful attitude, it wasn’t long until the old owner of the tavern had handed Akako ownership of the tavern in confidence, trusting Akako to take care of the tavern even in his absence.

Nowadays, although Akako still spends most of his time at the tavern, he could still be seen occasionally around the village, chatting with locals and visitors alike, making sure that everyone’s needs are well taken care of. If asked, Akako would never quite manage to shake the perception of the “friendly elder sibling” of the village, regardless of the seniority of the resident being asked.
