Phryne
Irrigation Mechanic Phryne was hatched in the Lightning domain. She’s straight business 24/7. But, if we’re being honest, she’s not really built to work efficiently in the desert. She needed to be in the water, not the sand. And, in a somewhat cooler temperature water than the desert had to offer. So, Phryne found, in the temperate streams of Singer’s Brook, a place where she could truly perform up to her full potential. One day, shortly after her arrival, she came upon the most ridiculous spectacle. It was a small group of land dwelling dragons who were trying - trying, but failing miserably - to put together an irrigation system for their farmland. Two incompetent Pearlcatchers (Calabaza and Luxaeterna) were clearly supposed to be following instructions provided by some poor Guardian, but instead they were ignoring the blueprints and damaging the materials! Phryne shook her head in exasperation, and suddenly realized that she was not the only witness to this scene. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a male Undertide who was also watching on. She turned to look at him and their gazes met. He was from the Ice flight. They each raised an eyebrow at one another, and together they slithered up on shore to go to the Guardian’s aid. The Undertides relieved the Pearlcatchers of their positions, allowing them to get back to doing whatever activities land dwellers are better suited to. Then, under the leadership of the Guardian, Earthworm, Phryne and her newly met partner, Ixtoc, set to work. The Guardian had designed a truly magnificent in-ground, drip irrigation system that would be automatically fed by the surrounding streams. Without any further shenanigans, the team had the irrigation system properly installed and operational within 3 days. After that, Earthworm asked Phryne and Ixtoc to stay on as permanent clan members. He offered the Undertides very important maintenance roles for the upkeep, improvement, and expansion of the irrigation system for the clan’s farm, the Orange Squash Co-Op™️. Both Undertides accepted the positions and found themselves places to settle in under the rushing river currents. As time went on, the Undertides came to find that they shared quite a few interests and had very similar values. Based on this, the two eventually determined that it could be mutually beneficial for them to cohabitate and share each other’s resources. They made a contract with each other, and several successful seasons after that, the two decided that they could potentially have an egg or two together. Nothing too crazy, though. They have FAR too much work to be getting on with. |
