Confident | Determined | Focused _____There are old tales surrounding the Keep and the monsters it harbors. The Keep presents itself as a fortress dedicated to furthering the evolution of magic and science. Many scholars and wizards call the mountain keep their home, but many do not suspect what the true purpose had been when it was constructed. _____Below the bright halls sits a darker truth. The deeper tunnels are not nearly as polished as those above, resembling caves rather than a fortress. Many of these halls remain unchanged from the time they were first excavated many centuries ago. Very few dare enter, afraid of the rumors. _____In truth, there is little to fear down below. Keres prefers her chambers to be there. While not completely deserted, it is much more peaceful than the area several hundred meters above. Wizards and witches mostly work down there. The libraries are aimed toward magic rather than science, so the scholars remain away. The rugged, more natural tunnels, are less jarring to Keres than the finely cut halls filled with corners and straight columns. The place feels cozy to her. _____How did a high ranking councillor come to live in such conditions? How did she even find the place? Some would suggest she got lost on her way back up from the dungeons, and they would be partially correct. _____When Faith first met with Keres, she had been a violent tyrant. Keres had brought down many clans in her lust to dominate before eventually being stopped by Faith when she ventured south. The survivors of the ruin Keres had caused had screaming for her head, but rather than leave her to die Faith took her home and hid her deep in the Keep. _____Keres was offered a chance at redemption. If she accepted and let go of her past and everything she had been, she could live her life in peace at the Keep, and perhaps eventually even allowed to leave. If she declined, and spiraled back to her old ways, Faith would have no choice but to lock her away forever. _____Many years have passed since the deal was struck, and Keres has gone through a great change. Although she nearly faltered in the beginning, she now stands firmly on new feet. She has become a valued advisor to Faith with her knowledge of military strategy and the minds of tyrants. _____She stands for truth and order above all. She is transparently clear of her intentions and expectations and expects others to do the same, and many do out of respect to her. She has no time for petty court play and has rejected the jewels and comfort of a royal life offered by her mate on many occasions. |
