- Full Biography -
Raised in a haughty and delicate clan, Sebastian was trained in the arts from a young age. As he grew into adulthood, he began to paint stunning portraits of the higher nobles, eventually even the leaders of his tribe's inaccessible council. But while they wanted him to remain an accessory, he wanted true power. Frustrated by the simple rigidity of his home clan, Sebastian clandestinely sought out the court's estranged wizard, a terrifying electric blue sorcerer by the name of Cane, who in the years since his exile from the clan had gathered a castle of his own, guided by enthralled minions and diligent, shadowy trainees beneath him. Sebastian resigned himself to the risk of his own exile for making contact, and traveled West across the secluded tribes of the Thorndark Altar to find the castle and sorcerer within, in search of answers about power.
He was welcomed wordlessly into the castle by a Tundra with lifeless, gleaming eyes, who led Sebastian to a dimly lit sitting room. After a few moments of contemplation beside a peculiar fireplace with ice-blue flames dancing harmlessly over the same log, Sebastian was greeted at last by the wizard himself. Sebastian found himself uncharacteristically blushing when they exchanged introductions, struggling not to gaze in awe at the handsome fiendish aura of the other pearlcatcher. The pair were served a dry, oaky red wine while they sat by the fire and began to speak. In discussing his rise to power, the wizard mentioned a Morningstar as one of his patron deities, a source of guidance for dragons seeking beauty and greatness without the constraints of conscience. Sebastian's eyes lit with recognition: if artful and arcane could intersect at such a delightfully dreadful middle ground, that space was surely where he could ascend to greatness.
And ascend he did. Soon after Sebastian's arrival to the necromancer's lair, Cotton Candy Sammy began to see visions of a brilliantly blazing Pearlcatcher. Sebastian felt the cold call of Morningstar begin to wrap around his heart, like the ache of homesickness for something he'd never known. The wizard admitted he felt it too, but he was hesitant to practice under the thumb of another sect again, when his dream of unbound seclusion had finally been realized. And so after a few marvelous weeks being shown the secret and splendidly vile projects inside the walls of Cane's home, Seb set off, alone. His throat burned as a goodbye passed through it, but still he turned from Cane and his castle to the world beyond.
When he arrived at Morningstar's doorstep at last, Sebastian's air of grace and impeccable taste stirred immediate respect in the hearts of his companions-to-be. Within weeks, Sebastian was friendly with Morningstar's elite, candidly immersing himself into MORNINGSTAR's ritual teachings and rubbing elbows with the eternal child-nobility and Sour Stephan. Though haughty and prideful, Sebastian quickly became fiendishly loyal to Morningstar, and soon after, Sebastian became a high-ranking advisor.
After settling into the lair, however, Seb's heart still pulled him toward a missing element. The tug felt like Morningstar's call, but weaker, sharper. Like a bitter taste in the back of his throat that would not leave as it lingered, he felt it. Lost in thought on one restless evening, he recognized its name at last: Cane. He who had lit a blue-tinged fire in his eager heart, he who spoke so harshly, cared so little for other beings...and yet took time to show Seb the joys of his wicked craft. Where would he be right now, if the necromancer's castle had been empty and he'd trodden back home, answerless? So much had changed in the preceding months, and it was all for him. Why did he feel, in his joy and pride for the rank he'd attained, an ache for validation from the one who had set him on this course? He knew even as he hovered timidly over the thought, that he needed Cane. Power was as sweet as he'd hoped, but he wanted his mentor, his corrupter, (his companion?) to taste it with him.
In uncharacteristic desperation, Sebastian wrote a letter encouraging, nearly begging, Cane to journey South and join him. To his great delight, the other pearlcatcher wasted little time in making arrangements to do so, and before long, the pair were reunited under the pallid Icefield moon.
The pearlcatchers gained influence as the clan began to rapidly benefit from their counsel. With the dawn of their coup, Morningstar clan's Age of Iridescent Blood began, and the two now sit comfortably atop the Morningstar hierarchy, shaping policy and crafting a more established nobility to recognize championship of pride, beauty, awe, and artistic passion.
The Influence of Sebastian and Cane's Era [The Age of Iridescent Blood]:
1. Their goal is firstly personal gain (forging ranks of nobility where they are high up), and secondly creating the most perfect clan possible. Destruction of unsuited dragons and personal enemies, purging of the lair.
2. They want to be more ruthless with the exaltation and battle for profit aspects of the clan. Honey Drop Hubbard is selected by Morningstar to receive the gift of exaltation magic, which formally begins the era
3. They emphasize hierarchy and also cruelty, providing more resources for the medical lab folks to do their evil schemes and such; the aforementioned sacrificial magic; Cane's vampire project
4. They encourage Morningstar dragons to achieve personal beauty, allocating resources to whoever desires a project for that. Carter likes them because this means additional fashion money and more treasure to count and allocate.
