History Freyja Von Willowfrost came from a clan steeped in a long history that spanned eons, if the paintings on their lair walls were to be believed. But why not? What reason would her ancestors have to falsely record what happened during their lifetimes? The mythologies and stories they told formed the foundation of everything that Freyja was. She was a Princess, descendant of those noble and ancient dragons, and she felt it was her duty to make a difference in Sornieth. To honor both her clan and the Icewarden, eternal guardians both of Sornieth's wellbeing against the Shade. But, as was common with many large clans, the youngest were forced to venture out. Not from any sort of wrongdoing by their clan, but by the necessity generated by a hereditary hierarchy where the eldest retained the right to rule. Freyja wasn't bitter, not at all, in fact she looked forward to this opportunity. She heard from the messengers and spies that served her father. There was an Arcane clan out there, a clan by the name of Sanguinem Luna, that had the audacity to try and settle in Shade infested lands. It boggled Freyja's mind that the clan of lunatics had already survived there for generations. Obviously, these Arcane dragons needed the wisdom that a follower of the Icewarden could provide. Who better than one that was descended from the Arcane Flight? Her clan, particularly her ancestors in their wisdom, saw the folly of the Arcane Flight as a whole and moved into the Southern Icefield. While the affinity for magic was retained in their bloodline, any of the peculiar Arcane quirks were bred out of her lineage. An action that she was eternally grateful for. It made standing in the Court of Arcyng Leo'animus a little less daunting. But only just. While her journey to the lands of Sanguinem Luna Clan were eventful, it all paled in comparison to the - hostility - of her reception. She couldn't understand it. She followed protocol and sent a letter prior to her arrival. While Arcyng Leo'animus himself didn't display any of the open hostility that many in his court did, she could not deny the sensation of crushing power that radiated off of the male Skydancer. She expected the pomp and circumstance befitting her station. But they all looked upon her like she was a squawking Harpy. Guardians, Ridgebacks, Mirrors, and Skydancers among the most represented species of this court. Several Imperials were sprinkled amidst the court, but their regal faces were schooled into impartial countenances. Freyja thought she was being reasonable. They didn't look like they had an Ice Flight Ambassador. Her eyes scanned the crowd and was only greeted by severe frowns out of the most expressive. At last Arcyng finally spoke. "I'm afraid that you are too late for such a station, Young One. While we may not have a designated Ambassador to the Ice Flight, or I expect the title Acolyte is more apt, we have a steady alliance with a different Ice Flight clan. I hold the representative of that clan in high esteem, even though he may not realize it yet." That stung. A different clan of the Ice Flight held more status than her own noble lineage? That was preposterous. Arcyng continued. "Then there is the manner of your letter. Included in it is a list of dietary requirements, accommodation requirements, and a... lineage certificate?" That caught the rest of the Court off guard. There were many exclamations of disbelief and certainly many huh's. Even the regal female Skydancer at Arcyng's side widened her eyes and looked at her husband. Her beautiful voice danced over the crowd. "Wait, they seriously sent that?" Arcyng nodded. "Indeed." Freyja tilted her head. "It is customary for my family to express our requirements and identification when visiting foreign royal families, so that they may organize their servants accordingly. I must say, Lord Arcyng. The hospitality of your Court is lacking. I should think an Arcane clan such as yours would find value in such an educated and refined family joining your court." There was an awful snort that erupted from one of the Imperials. He was brute of a male; silvery scales boasted a leopard print pattern and his golden eyes glittered through a glare. His rhyming slang was unique to a region of the Light Flight territory if Freyja could recall. She honestly couldn't understand him at all. Arcyng seemed to be versed in the Imperial's way of speech. "I agree, the arrogance is astonishing. Young Freyja, I'm afraid that this-" He waved the sheets of parchment clasped in his right forepaw. "Is a complete insult. We do not know you or your clan and yet you expect to join my Court out of mere station from your own clan. This parchment is mere parchment to our eyes." A Guardian male with pupil-less violet eyes, framed in runic markings, rumbled, "Arcyng, you aren't seriously considering...?" Arcyng answered the Guardian, "Insult is not grounds to completely turn away the young one. We will observe the same set of tests that we've held for both our young and the new dragons that wish to join the clan. Young Freyja, to be clear, you will be expected to complete our clan's Test. It is our way of determining where a dragon shall serve the clan best." Freyja dipped her head. "I firmly believe you will find me ready and able to complete your Test, Your Highness. By the end of it, you will be begging me to join your Court." Arcyng's grim tone still haunts Freyja to this day. "I doubt that will be the case. Ignorance can be the mother of misplaced optimism." Arcyng's words were almost like a curse. Freyja failed nearly every aspect of the Test. When she finally limped away from the verdict, she sat alone on the precipice that overlooked the southern section of the Sanguinem Luna Clan territory. Her body hurt. Her mind hurt. Her heart hurt. Worst of all, her pride was shredded beyond all semblance of her regal air. She wasn't sure when she was joined by a female Guardian. Turning her head to her left, Freyja recognized the Guardian female as the one that offered to take her into her caste. The Guardian female was known as Quiescis'Lillium and sported an incredible array of flowering tree boughs growing from her hide. Soft cloth rustled with Quiescis'Lillium's movement. Freyja couldn't help it. She felt herself shattering. Her shoulders trembled. Her fur flattened. She lowered her head so that she couldn't look. "I've shamed my ancestors." Quiescis'Lillium hummed gently, "Not at all young one. Your ancestors failed you and thusly shamed you. It was their failure to teach you respect for other clans' sovereignty that aided in that disaster back there." Freyja sniffed. "Reduced to a farmer. I'm a Princess! I shouldn't have to move dirt! You ruined me, Guardian!" A dark glower fell over Quiescis'Lillium. She growled, "What is wrong with you?! I saved you from having to go crawling back to your parents! Arcyng was prepared to banish you from our clan territory, many of the others wished it. I was your advocate!" Freyja waved her paw dismissively. "Some advocate. I doubt you would even be able to find me a suitable husband befitting my rank." Quiescis'Lillium stood up. She snarled, "Great Mother above! What will it take to drive it through your thick skull? If you want to live here, then you do not have a rank! You haven't earned it! Freyja Von Willowfrost, you are hearby assigned to work in Serenity Village. You do not have permission to enter the Crystal Spire unless escorted by myself. Now get off of this precipice and report to your post to the south west. Good day!" Freyja rose to her paws and snarled at the Guardian. "I shouldn't have to earn it! That test was rigged! For some reason you lot pressured your King into seeing that I fail. That's it! Of course, that makes sense! Oh Icewarden almighty, that's why he sent me to this Gods forsaken clan. You raging lunatics are blackmailing your own leader somehow! I have to save you from yourselves!" Quiescis'Lillium's jaw dropped. She stared at Freyja as if the young Tundra had grown three heads. Then, slowly closing her eyes, Quiescis'Lillium took a deep inhale and breathed out twice as slowly. The flowering boughs that framed her titanic neck and head shuddered as a quiet laugh passed through her body. Shaking her head to the negative, Quiescis'Lillium finally said, "Great Mother above... Alright. You saw through us." Freyja nodded. "Yes, of course I did. Wait, what?" Quiescis'Lillium nodded her head slightly to the positive. "You saw through our ruse. How clever. But truly, if you really want to save poor Arcyng and his wife from the others... Well..." Freyja asked, "Well what?" Quiescis'Lillium said, "Why you need to be more covert Dear. This is a highly delicate mission that the Icewarden gave you. You can't paint a target on your back unnecessarily." Freyja slapped her paw on the crystal precipice. "Of course! Oh what a fool I've been! Right, right. Well it is good that you don't seem to have much loyalty to the others. So perhaps you are the perfect... shield... as the one with rank, you'd take the fall if any of my actions are caught. Oh its genius! Brilliant! Right, pretend to be a farmer to save the King held prisoner by his own Court!" Quiescis'Lillium nodded. "Yes, yes. Go! You need to go to your base of operations out of their prying eyes!" Freyja launched off of the precipice. "Yes, yes! Good bye Captain! I shall report to you on the morrow!" ~History written by Countessoffire the owner of The Hallowed Hall Hatchery/Lore Shop Frosty the Shardback Slink Frosty is Freyja's familiar that she acquired when she visited the Southern Icefields. He is a cheerful little guy that likes to play around her paws. Even as an elder, this adorable little slink can bring a smile to the dragons of Serenity Village. Pinkerlocke Record
