insane • passionate • manipulative "kings have honor, soldiers have bravery, and poets have heart. but all I have is rage." 
He was hatched on a cursed night, the night of a Blood Moon. The moon was full, and red as blood in the air. His parents has prayed to their god for him to wait just one more day, to save their child from this horrid fate. Their prayers were not answered. Black veins covered the egg, and it turned as dark as the night itself. It seemed to suck the light out of the room. An odd red glow surrounded it. The parents backed up, watching in growing horror as their only egg was changed into this strange object. A loud crying noise echoed out of the egg, and it slowly morphed into what sounded like screaming. The hatchling clawed its way out of its torturous prison, and it looked.... odd. The parents gasped in shock as they gazed upon their child, who was glowing red and panting in pain. It stumbled around for a bit, before falling to the floor. Its scales looked nothing like it's parents, like it had been changed somehow. It had turned black and red and yellow. The parents dared not touch it. Later, when the sun had risen and the cursed moon had set, the odd glow had faded and the child was almost... normal looking. The parents frantically rushed it to the local seer. You see, according to the beliefs of this clan, a child hatched under a blood moon is cursed. Doomed to insanity. However, they are also gifted special abilities, seen as evil, that are outside of the usual magic given through the dragons element. These can include: breathe fire; disappear into dark shadows; weak night vision; slight fire resistance; toxic saliva; rare ability to read minds/foretell the future (if hatched under one or more full moons); teleportation (very rarely); and many others that are unique down to the very dragon. These hatchlings are usually killed soon after hatching. Tezcatlipoca was not. His parents hid him away, as they felt horribly guilty allowing their only son to be killed. He was raised in solitude, for his father happened to be a very skilled mage and he enchanted a cloak and some gloves to act as a re-animated caretaker. They could watch their son through the cloak's hood. Tez was extremely lonely. The cloak could not speak, so he spoke to himself to learn. He had many books, and that was how he learned the language. |
