Biography

Emone
Emone is a coral researcher, devoting her life to studying the different types of coral and their qualities. But there’s a problem. She has a total black thumb and all of her attempts to grow her own coral to study have ended horribly. Coral is very delicate, and despite having completely devoted her life to studying coral, Emone hasn’t really learned how to take care of it, nurture it, and protect it.

Luckily for her, there’s a pair of coral farmers in Electrician’s Edge! And surely Tempura and Sashimi would happily sacrifice a few branches of coral here and there for the greater good of science, right?

Wrong.

Emone has horribly misjudged the love and care that Tempura and Sashimi have poured into their coral garden. She doesn’t realize how Tempura considers the coral itself his family; she doesn’t realize that Sashimi hatched from the coral itself. Emone did, at first, approach them to ask about giving her some coral samples and allowing her to study their garden, but she was shut down, hard. The siblings would never dream of sacrificing any bit of coral, no matter how important Emone swears her research is. And once Emone mentioned that all of her attempts to grow her own coral had failed, that was the last straw. There was no way they would hand over some samples of their beloved coral to a so-called researcher who couldn’t handle her own topic of research.

So Emone has taken matters into her own hands.

Emone lurks in an underground tunnel, flooded through, right below the Summerstorm Stream, and has learned to drill holes in the ceiling of this tunnel to access Tempura and Sashimi’s coral garden. Then, she can gently poke her nose through, and shimmy out, and — snip! — retrieve the sample she desires for herself.

Well, Emone doesn’t have a good grasp on how coral works, and by the time she has slinked back to her hideout, clutching her retrieved coral sample, it’s already begun to crumble and die. Emone just doesn’t have the capability to preserve coral, and her research and the coral plants alike are suffering for it.

In addition, Tempura and Sashimi caught on to her little trick a long time ago, and keep an ever-watchful, vigilant eye out for her. If they hear the grinding of her drill, or notice sand slipping in a certain spot, they’ll be ready and waiting for her. They’ll stand over her hole, so when she finishes and pokes her nose out, they can bap her in the nose and send her scurrying away. It’s like a game of wack-a-mole to them.
