Cuo Cuo was the son of Jian Lan and Feng Xin. The exact circumstances are unclear, but Jian Lan's and her baby died before Feng Xin knew about his child.

In his after-death search for his mother, Cuo Cuo became a malicious spirit who preyed on children, and became a follower of the dreaded Bai Wuxiang.

After hundreds of years, Cuo Cuo was eventually reunited with his mother, the one being whom he is gentle towards. He greatly dislikes his father, Feng Xin, who was completely unaware that he had a child, let alone one that became a malicious Fierce Ghost.

His name is pronounced tswoh-tswoh and means wrong or mistake; the repeated character makes it a diminutive.
