Nikandros spent a fair bit of time isolating himself from most of the world. Between his curse and the primordial magic residing within him, he wished to spend time ensuring he could control his powers properly. He had a wealth of potential, but an early accident caused him to pull back so that he could avoid harming the wrong people.
Once he felt that he had a proper grasp of his abilities, he began to wander Sornieth, seeking to do something with his life. It wasn't easy. He had difficulties connecting with others. When all others could be seen as prey, it changes one's perspective of things a little. He did not want to become a mindless beast, driven only to hunt others down. He especially did not wish to become a Child-Eater. If he has to kill, he'd rather there be some additional purpose.
Even so, a wolf must eat.
For awhile, he specifically sought out Child-Eaters. He'd blitz them down until he could enter their dreams to prey upon them. It worked out well when he could find them, but being so selective made for some very hungry nights. He needed to widen his net or he was going to starve.
It was during a hunt under a full moon that he had a chance encounter that would forever change him. Perhaps it was only fitting, that he would come across an enchanter whos magical abilities were empowered by the very moon that drove his curse. She was in the middle of imbuing a blade when he made his approach. The urge to hunt was, for the time being, supplanted by curiosity; he was drawn to her.
The two eventually grew close.
One evening, the clan was being assaulted by a rival group. Nikandros had been in the area, ready to visit Tsukuyomi. She, as well as several of her allies, were wounded and fighting for their lives. Without thinking, he possessed her, binding himself to her form. She became the beast, through him, and the immediate threats were thwarted.
Two became one.
