Biography
High on a hill, in the clan's shrine, sits a statue. The topaz eyes stare down protectively and almost menacingly onto the Sanyil clan's ground, warning off enemies and daring members of the Sanyil clan to put a toe out of line.
The statue has been there since a little after the founding of the clan, long before most can remember. Only Orchunter, Mairead and Micah know the truth about it, but they refuse to speak of it. Despite its age, the faience painted onto the statue has never chipped or faded, and the glaze still glimmers under the sunlight.
The Sanyil clan respectfully calls the statue Sangar. Myths state that once, when the clan was under siege, the statue leaped to life and felled all of their enemies. With a snap of his teeth, Sangar supposedly ripped out the throat of a fierce Mirror; with a lash of his tail, a Fae was swatted out of the sky. Before the Sanyil clan even knew what happened, their attackers were either vanquished or retreating, and the statue was sitting innocently in its rightful place.
Some say that Sangar is a protector of the clan. Some say that Sangar is merely a statue, nothing more. Most in the Sanyil clan don't know the truth, but they are all too well acquainted with the eerily wistful gaze of Sangar.
