Biography

Tazar Arizon
Raptorik in Disguise
Bio
Tazar Arizon is a raptorik with the ability to transform into a nocturne. In this dragon dominated society, Tazar spends most of his time in nocturne form. He'll only reveal his true form to those he trusts, who is pretty much no-one.

Tazar is young and reckless, and puts on a front of being confident. If anyone asks about his identity, he gets angry and tries to intimidate them into backing off. But deep down, he has a lot of doubts about himself and society.

He is in love with Haley. He met her as a Raptorik but believes he can only love her as a dragon. When he found out that she loved Darlune, he immediately envied him.

Trained to fight like a dragon by Agyrion.

History
The Wish of a Raptorik

If only he'd been born a dragon.

Ever since he was born, Tazar Arizon envied the life of a dragon. In his eyes, they were better, stronger and superior to beastclan. Anything he could do, a dragon could just do better. Whether it was fighting, or magic, or just the act of living, dragons could do it all better. Unlike dragons, beastclan didn't even get magic innately. They had to train their whole lives. But dragons were innately gifted with magic from birth and because of that, they had access to magic that most beastclan could only dream of. Not only that, that made them resistant to shade corruption, and they could fight them so much more effectively than beastclan. And although today's society claimed to have finally achieved prosperity between beast and dragonkind, it was clear that it was dragonkind that ruled today's society.

Why couldn't he have been born a dragon? Even at a young age, he often wished he had been born a dragon.

Tazar Arizon was born into a raptorik family in a mixed beastclan-dragon village. Such mixed villages were common in today's society, where many species lived together in harmony. But Tazar never had the chance to enjoy it. In order to find work, his family had to move frequently. As such, he found it hard to form connections. He blamed it on being a raptorik. If he'd been a dragon, he would've been more popular. He wouldn't have to keep being alone. His parents wouldn't have to keep moving. He often dreamed about what it was like to be a dragon. To be one of the chosen, created by the gods of Sornieth. To be gifted with the ability to wield the elements. To be at the front-lines, fighting against the shade corrupted and the like.

But as he grew up, he started thinking that such a wish could never be granted.

It was at the age of fifteen when his parents finally settled in the Runescar Valley. Ruled by the Escueto Family, it was not a bad place to be. There were many beastclan and dragons living together. To Tazar, it initially seemed like yet another unfamiliar city. But it was in this city where Tazar Arizon would meet his destiny.

The Day His Life Changed

It was after a few years of living in this city, when one day he met a mysterious guardian, who claimed he could grant him his deepest desire. The dragon was cloaked in a dark hook, and had an assortment of wares laid out in front of him. At first, Tazar thought he was a crook. But as he turned to leave, his next words stopped him.

"Do you not wish to become a dragon?" he said.

He felt his heart stop. How did he know? Tazar attempted to feign disinterest. Attempted to convince himself that such a thing was not possible. He thought his whole life that it was something out of his reach. Yet here was a stranger offering the very thing he had wished for his life.

The mysterious dragon handed him a talonclaps pendant. With this pendant, Tazar could transform into a Nocturne. But in exchange, Tazar had to keep this ability hidden. He could never reveal to anyone that he was a beastclan that could transform. Not his friends, nor the dragons he would meet. Not even his family. If he revealed this secret to anyone, the magic in the pendant would fail.

It sounded too good to be true.

Tazar accepted almost immediately. He thought his prayers had finally been answered. With this pendant, he would no longer have to live as a raptorik. He could finally become a dragon. What did it matter who he really was inside?

The Life of a Dragon

They parted ways and as soon as he was out of sight, Tazar tried the pendant out. As the stranger promised he actually physically transformed into a dragon. For the first time, he felt whole. He felt free. He tested his wings and found himself soaring into the sky with the winds of magic. It was the best day of his life.

A dragon saw him flying through the city with a grace that he'd never seen before. Tazar was praised for his flying and his spirits soared.

This was it, he thought. All his life, he could only ever dream of reaching the sky. But no more. With this power, he could do anything.

With newfound confidence, Tazar began living a double life. He would wake up as a raptorik and live a normal life with his parents. But then he would wander the streets as a nocturne. There were now so many things he could do. He wanted the test the limits of his ability. He wanted to see how far he could go as a dragon.

But as it turned out, just becoming a dragon was not Tazar's one way ticket to success.

The Cold Hard Truth

It was not soon before reality reared its ugly head before him. As time went on, Tazar soon found himself met with failure after failure.

He approached the city barracks in the hopes of becoming a warrior. But he was only met with jeers and laughter.

He entered tryouts for the local sky jousting team, but he didn't even make it past preliminaries.

He saw a gray ashen pearlcatcher by the city canals and tried to woo her, only for her to choose another dragon.

Why?

He had become a dragon. He had achieved the thing he thought would set him straight for the rest of his life. Where was the prestige? The fame? The success?

It was the other dragons. It had to be. Always getting in his way. As he thought about it more, he realised that it had always been dragons getting in his way. They were the reason he couldn't find success. That pearlcatcher who stole his first love away. Those obelisks who had laughed at his lousy sky jousting skills. Always looking down on him. Why was it always him, standing all alone? It was unfair. Why? Why him?

As he cursed his fate, he realised he had been flying in the rain. He no longer cared. He gritted his teeth in anger, as he landed by the city canals, the rain softly pitter pattering on the hard concrete floor. Had he been crying? He couldn't tell.

Gripping his Talonclasp Pendant in despair, he tore it from his chest and threw it across the street. What good was this blasted artifact. It had all been a lie. He felt his strength leave him, as he slumped to the floor as a raptorik. He barely felt the rain fall around him, as uncaring as the reality he found himself in.

It was then that the mysterious guardian he met appeared once more. Cloaked from the billowing rain, he walked up to the fallen raptorik.

"My oh my. It seems fate did not go as you had hoped," The stranger reached out a claw to Tazar, but he slapped it away.

"I should've known better than to trust you!" he snapped. Without even thinking, he lashed out at the stranger, grabbing him by the clasp of his cloak, "You promised to fulfil my desires. You said I would achieve greatness! And yet... What good was your blasted talisman?! Where was my success!?!"

Then, Tazar let him go. "It was all a lie, wasn't it?"

He dropped to his knees once more, landing in the rain soaked floor.

"No. It wasn't a lie was it. The only one who's been lying... is me."

"Maybe, I was just never destined for greatness."

Maybe, I was destined to be a failure.

With the last of his strength gone, sapped by the unending rain, he collapsed on the cold hard floor. And with that, there was no longer any movement. Nothing sounded in the night except for the pitter patter of the rain, and the soft howl of the wind. In the dark of the night, the pavement lit only by the halo of a lamplight, a passerby could easily have mistaken the raptorik for dead. And if the guardian did nothing, that falsity could easily become true.

Fool of a bird. So blinded you were by your delusions, you never realised that you were your own greatest enemy...

Slowly, he moved up to the fallen raptorik, grabbed him and dragged him away, far into the darkness.

His Path

That night, the raptorik had a dream.

He dreamt of the stars that whirled above head. Of the land that flew far beneath him. He reached a claw out towards the sky, hoping he would one day reach the stars. But no matter how far he went, the stars remained yet out of reach.

He became desperate. He flew ever higher, into the midst of clouds itself. The further he went, the thicker it got, until he could no longer see his claw stretched out in front of him.

Suddenly he stopped. He looked around him, and he could not recognise where he was. And he felt scared. He stepped backward, turned around, and looked here and there. Everywhere around him was fog. Where had he come from? Where was he going? He could no longer answer.

He ran forward, and he was met with jeers and laughter.

You? A warrior? Ha! As if a joke of a bird like you could ever become a warrior.

No...

I am sorry sir, but you unfortunately just did not have what it takes.

Stop it...

Tazar, I'm sorry. I cannot love you.

Shut up. Shut up. Shut up!
