"I'm not supposed to be alive. And yet here I am, a living paradox" ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ "Death gave birth to life. You're both male and female and, at the same time, none of them. Let the paradox run within you; feel it. Even if it hurts. That's what you are". Those words etch in her memory, as well as those icy blue eyes. Since then, Inoshi strengthened her relationship with Kuno. Kuno, the same dragon who looked at her with compassion, some pain echoing through her gaze. When Inoshi discovered what worried Kuno, she then understod. Inoshi knew about her disliking with aberrations, the disrepect to life and death. "Nature do some crazy things sometimes. Intersexed species are uncommon —at least for reptiles—, but are the product of nature. Nature would never allow the undead return to life or let the death give birth to life. That's unbalanced", Kuno continued some time after. Indeed she was full of paradoxes; being both male and female, but not fully any of those two. Infertile. But absolutely nothing wrong, possible for nature. She embodies life and death. When Inoshi thought about the possibilities of being alive as an aberration of another aberrations, she felt an indescribable pain deep down in her soul. She lost the train of her thoughts, and for a second she turned out like a savage animal that only wanted the sorrow to refer; she screamed, she moaned, she ran far away from Kuno. Inoshi spent a lot of time trying to understand the reason of that pain. A memory from her birthday came to her mind. All light, all brilliant, full of growls, sobs, howls and groans. Sounds that echoed in her heart, like she was dragged to another time and place where sorrow consumed everything. A time and a place she searched for when she had those terrible episodes losing her sanity. She wanted to escape from that pain, those sounds, that hurtful and brilliant light. The sun was not made for her nonetheless; her skin itched after long exposures to the sun. Her albinism forced her to take shelter in the shadows of the gloomy forest, where she refused to make contact with other aberrations and, in general, with other House of Shadow dragon members. But Kuno also lived in the shadows. Such irony. Inoshi spent a lot of time with Kuno. The latter gave her magic lessons knowing her intelligence was superior, quite superior to other aberrations. The magic allowed Inoshi to reach some... peace. Inoshi learnt how to use the necrotic magic to put an end to the undead dragons, like her master does. The bond strengthened even more. "You know," said Inoshi one time. "I considered you like a mother." Kuno pierced her scarlet eyes with her icy gaze. "That was for a very short time, just at the beginning. You were so distant by then... but somehow you're close to me, without that... closiness?" Kuno said nothing. Inoshi could tell her expression softened. "You're like a master. A best friend too. But a master after all". Kuno knew since the first day that Inoshi showed an incredible respect for her. But Inoshi's words felt warm. "You have taught me a lot. But... can I ask for a last favor?" "Tell me, Inoshi." "You once told me that we're like the stars; each one has a different lifespan. And it just so happens that aberrations have a shorter lifespan compared to other dragons. Makes sense," Inoshi's laugh was tainted by a bittersweet tone. "I- we aberrations... were not meant to be alive. When that time comes, put me out of my missery singing that lullaby of yours." Kuno agreed in silence. Inspired by albino lizardfolk lore in D&D, which fits pretty well with my own lore of aberrations in my lair.
