kSkSu1Y.gif Aspen, despite his bright colors and cheery attitude, he has a rather grim job in the tunnel town. He is a haruspex, a sort of diviner who makes predictions by looking at spilled entrails. He believes, like many druids from the wild and untamed Viridian Labyrinth, that the gods communicate through various forms of pain.
Pain is holy to druids, pain is to people as fire is to trees.
Forests burn; it's an instinctual part of the cycle. A single tree is not important to druids, no, druids care about the forest. They don't even care about the forest as a collection of trees; rather, they care about the eternal forest which lies beyond them and will endure long after all of these trees have died.
This is true for people as well, Aspen has deduced. The painful death of one friend is not something that matters, as there will be other friends, just like them. He will gladly rip open their stomach and steal their magic away from their corpse with a smile on his face.
This may seem wicked, but in the woods, chaos and apathy is the Right and the Good.
