karael grew up amongst the tricksters of the shadow flight. seldom did they truly say what they meant, and all of the pleasant, lovely façades held a darker truth underneath. every sentence passing karael’s lips is either a lie or a half-truth, and it served her well in the tangled wood, where this was completely normal. through various apprenticeships, karael found her passion in a certain type of herbalism.

what she called herbalism was instead a clever act. every medicine she presented to others would be the last thing to pass her victims’ lips. and so, she brought this knowledge out of the tangled wood, into a seemingly innocent new clan. she did not really care for the others, instead using her abilities to prevent her own death, by analyzing clan members and choosing to use her poison on whoever she most suspected — that is, the odd fool and a vampire. this, however, did not save her from quickly losing the trust of the clan. perhaps, in being cast out, she was lucky …
