Strict with everybody, including himself, Azphel is the consummate perfectionist. His combined mastery of both magic and weapons could even rival the Dragon Lord Fregion. He is decisive and strong-willed; Zikel, normally arrogant and unyielding, bows before him.

Azphel always considered Ariel too weak-willed to be a leader, and still resents her weakness and ignorance which he believes led to the destruction of the Tower of Eternity and the shattering of Atreia.

Indeed, it seemed many of the Lords were abandoning their duty as protectors- though none surprised him as greatly as Lady Siel, the most dutiful of all the Empyrean Lords, who was likewise swayed to make peace with the Balaur.

Despite the hardships lodged against him, Azphel has never allowed himself to falter in his responsibilities. Taking all the despair and suffering of the Cataclysm upon himself, it was he who guided the Asmodian people to adapt and thrive.

To all those in Elysea, he is feared- the Lord of Misfortune. They say even Nezekan, the indestructible shield of the Elyos, fears him. But the Asmodian people view Azphel as more than just a protector, but as their role model and saviour.
