Velora

As leader of her clan Velora is not quite what you expect of a dragon. Her mate is another female dragon though she continues to have the children of numerous males and though she hoards riches she does not lay them in a pile, she breaks them down and creates artwork the likes of which have never been seen. Her home is made possible by the tireless effort of her Ridgeback mate Meena and her own talent for turning even the most mundane living space into a detailed work of art.

The first dragon to come to her was Degan, an earth flight who was interested in finding a home for himself. Velora's, at that time, small cavern charmed him into offering her his service. She accepted and told him of her plans. He was to leave immediately if he was to serve and bring her dragons from around the world. She wanted to fill her home with a bustling family and raise children beyond number. Somewhat confused but willing to help he left, leaving her to the peace and quiet of her home and the company of her art work.

Her affinity for art at one point became a detriment and she worried that the dragons Degan was bringing her would all leave upon arrival. Her worry interfered with her work and she began leaving the lair to search for inspiration. She found it in Meena. The best part was that, being a Ridgeback Meena had natural talent for digging, she continues to expand their lair and is followed by Velora who directs her and then embellishes the new wings with the beauty and art present in every corner of their home.

The Skydancer came across a budding Barkback one day while lounging in the sun. The beast laid within a rotting tree on the edge of Dragonhome, slowly maturing in the harsh climate. Amused and intrigued, for she had never witnessed such a thing, Velora tended to it. Daily, she would bring it water, quietly speak to it and even spoke with Svar on what best to do to encourage it's growth. When the boar was finally ready to rise up from the carcass of it's fallen mother-tree it waited for Velora to return to it, having perceived her love and warmth. It gave one distinct rumble of approval when Velora invited it to her clan and followed her back, never leaving her side since. They often curl up and enjoy the day together and even spar when the mood suits them. Meena claims they are kindred spirits, destined to meet. As such the boar and ridgeback have an understanding, their love for Velora uniting them, though they have little else in common.
