Biography

Trust few. Take the sword. Run from this place as far as you can.

A male Wildclaw hatched somewhere on the Scarred Wasteland territory. He opens his eyes and the first thing he sees is an elegant, beautifully decorated sword. He feels like it's calling him. He takes the sword, that - despite being about two times bigger than himself - seems to be light enough to be carried by him, a hatching seeing the world for barely a few minutes so far.

And then he runs as fast as he could as a few-minutes-old hatchling, carefully holding a big sword in his mouth. He doesn't know where, he doesn't know why, he just knows he has to. Finally, he sees a vortex in front of him...
~ ~ ~

"Starquill, Peter, I know it's the Pinot Noir's Day today, but there's something... pretty important to do." Mubatelo told the two dragons sitting in front of him "But we need to wait for a while until one more member of your team will come here..."

Soon after a black Imperial male came and landed gracefully near the two other dragons. It was Black Bolt.

"Oh man..." Star-Lord wasn't really happy with the Mubatelo's decisions "You don't say we will have this weird mute guy as a part of our team..."

Starquill was in shock and Black Bolt frowned at Star-Lord.

"A bit of respect for him, Peter! He's a royalty!" Mubatelo could not believe what he has heard. "Anyway, the reason why I gathered you here is that Stardew - as you may know, he's one of our clan's couriers - has seen a pretty important enchanted sword, called The Emperor's Whisker, believed to be made with one of the first Emperor's whiskers, somewhere in the southern Scarred Wasteland territory. While I am unfamiliar with the powers this sword has, it'd be better if you'd find it before somedragon who shouldn't does it."

Black Bolt noted something quickly in this notebook, tore the piece of paper and passed it to Mubatelo.
"But why Stardew did not pick up the sword, since he knew it's here?" Mubatelo read the writing aloud and then answered "Well, the answer is that he couldn't, there was a heavy battle going on and it was too risky for such an important courier."

Starquill, Star-Lord and Black Bolt were about to leave to make plans, when they heard someone panting heavily.

"I'm sorry *pant* I am so late *pant* but I had to finish *pant* my work in the library..." the newcomer tried to explain.

"Oh my Windsinger! How I could forget about you, Starlight?" Mubatelo turned to the other three dragons "I know how it looks like, I hear these 'she won't survive even a second' comments but yeah. Looks can be deceiving. You will see and thank me later!"

"Does she even know what's the point?" Star-Lord was sceptical.

"We're looking for some important sword, aren't we?" Starlight said, winking at Black Bolt.

"Okay you all can leave now, may Windsinger bless you!" Mubatelo bid the new team goodbye.

May the Windsinger bless you.

The vortex lead to some unknown, cold place. A freezing, violent wind was blowing, the Wildclaw hatchling barely could see the end of his muzzle in the blizzard. But he was feeling he must go forward. After a long half of an hour, he saw a silhouette of a building, that could be a castle... This could be a shelter!

~ ~ ~

The team - finally consisting of one Sornieth-native dragon and three otherworlders - departed into the night.
A while before they reached the border of the Scarred Wasteland, Starquill used a basic spell protecting from the local dangerous environmental magic.
Right at the border there were two guarding Mirror dragons. One was dark red, the other was light grey, both had red eyes indicating they're Plague's children. They didn't look friendly.

"Who are you?" hissed the dark red one

"Uh... just a few random travellers from Wind" Starquill answered, with a slight nervousness "Can we just... go already?"

"No!" screeched the grey one "We don't trust you!"

"Especially we do not trust that pink equine thing" the red mirror squinted suspiciously at Starlight "We won't let a random non-Sornieth native to our lands, we're not as stupid as you in Wind!"

Starquill, Star-Lord and Starlight were about to attack the Mirrors to get through the border - and for offending the entire Wind flight - but suddenly the ground shaked. The two mirrors quickly backed out and ran away. And the thing that caused that small local earthquake was... just a Black Bolt's sneeze. He signed "It was me, I'm sorry".

All four team members carefully entered the Scarred Wasteland territory.

~ ~ ~

Completely exhausted Wildclaw hatchling finally reached the castle. He, still holding the sword, crawled to the nearest place sheltered from the blizzard. Tightly clutching the hilt of the sword, he didn't even feel when he slowly started to fall asleep.

Welcome to your home now. You're safe here...

It was the same internal voice that told him to run away from the Scarred Wasteland. He felt happy, for the first time since he hatched. Extremely tired but happy.

Protect the sword and it will protect you.

~ ~ ~

There was suspiciously calm.
Something zipped in front of the team very quickly, to the point they barely caught a glimpse of its existence.
And it did zip once again in front of them. This time though Starlight managed to catch one very small detail... a little plume of a black smoke that left in the air for a short while after the mysterious runner has disappeared. She knows that smoke very well...

"Now we all need to be even more careful." Starlight adopted a clearly defensive pose "Pretty sure I have seen some Shade contamination."

"Starlight is right" Starquill gave the nod "My dragon senses tell me that's a medium-"

Starquill did not finish his thought when out of the blue there came two Mirrors in front of him and his friends. They were the same Mirrors they encountered at the border. But there was something weird about them. Their eyes were nearly entirely black and their claws were covered in a black smoke.
In a fraction of second, Starquill instinctively reached for his bow and strung the bowstring.

First of the Mirrors, attacked before Starquill was able to shoot an arrow but Starlight managed to use the magic shield spell in a last while before the claws reached any of them.

After a few minutes of exchanging scratches, arrows and magic bolts, none of the sides could tip the scales at win.
Suddenly Starlight just used the most powerful stunning spell she could use at the moment and started to run away
"Come on, what are y'all looking at, we don't have time!" She screamed.
Star-Lord quickly managed to catch up the distance. Black Bolt picked up unconscious Starquill who got caught in the area of the Starlight's spell and not too long later he was already with the other two team members.

After a few intensive minutes of running away, they stopped to catch their breath, sure that these two Mirrors won't find them anytime soon.

"Uh, you guys see what I see?" Star-Lord pointed at something on the ground "Because y'know, this looks like a place where some sword was sticked in the ground."

"Oh no, now it can be anywhere! We failed!" Starlight started to panic.

Star-Lord looked closer at the area where the sword was and he saw clear small pawprints and markings indicating that there was carried something bigger than the one who was carrying.

"We need to go this way, whoever made these pawprints is most likely owning the sword now!"

The team followed the track and not too long after they found a vortex. The track ended here. So if they wanted to find the sword, they had to go through the vortex, into the unknown. Starlight was the first to come through, nearly immediately Star-Lord followed. After a while, Star-Lord's head peeked out of the vortex and he said "Hey, c'mon guys, what are you waiting for? You want to fight these two guys behind you once again?"
Starquill and Black Bolt looked behind them and saw two Mirror dragons closing in. They quickly ran through the vortex and Starlight temporarily closed it as soon as they came through.

They felt the violent cold wind and the blinding blizzard.

"WHERE ARE WE?" Starlight screamed, trying to outshout the wind's noise.

Starquill breathed the cold air in. The air seemed extremely familiar to him. He knows the place, but he doesn't know exactly why, because he does not remember ever being here.

"SOMEWHERE ON THE RECLAIMER'S GLACIER I THINK" he tried to outshout the noise as well "I THINK WE ALL SHOULD GET CLOSER TO EACH OTHER SO WE DON'T HAVE TO SHOUT"

All four team members grouped themselves together, as close as they could.

"But... where we should go? Looks like all the tracks have been covered by the snow!" Star-Lord sounded a bit resigned

Starquill closed his eyes. After a while he opened them and they were glowing with a soft blue light. He hanged in the air without making even a single movement. And then he just landed and his eyes returned to normal.

"Follow me, I think I know the way!"

Everyone willingly followed the Coatl. Who they can trust more than a Sornieth native whose inborn element is Ice on a terrain belonging to this element, after all?

Soon they saw a silhouette of a pretty big building that's very likely supposed to be a castle, it looked like it's abandoned for years but even with this fact, it still looked amazing. But, Star-Lord caught a glimpse of a pair of two shiny eyes near the building.

They carefully came closer. Suddenly, out of the blue, a young Wildclaw male with a decorative sword jumped at the group.

A short fight has happened.

"Who are you?" he hissed, holding the sword near Black Bolt's throat "Tell me quickly, NOW!"

The dragon was not much bigger than Starlight in her current, Equestrian form. There was fear in his eyes. He was in fact just an about 2 days old scared hatchling, completely alone in this unknown, dangerous place.

"He... does not talk, for some reason... We mean no harm, we just... came for a certain sword to get it before some wrong claws will get it... y'know a sword that looks exactly like yours..." Star-Lord tried to calm down the situation

"You think I am not worthy of that sword?!" the young Wildclaw moved the sword swiftly, its end pointed now at Star-Lord's throat.

"No, wait I didn't say that. I was talking about... y'know, bad guys..."
Star-Lord felt a touch on an upper part of his wing. It was Black Bolt's paw. Gently holding the wing, he shaked his head and all this looked like as if he wanted to say "Stop before you say a few words too much."

"You're not a bad guy." Starlight came closer to the Wildclaw "If you were, you'd not hesitate to use your sword to kill any of us. You're just scared, left alone for all the whims of the fate..."

"What can you know? You don't know anything, you pink Dwarf Unicorn!" he hissed, still holding the sword pointing at Star-Lord's throat.

"I know more than you think... For some time, in my native universe, I used to be that bad one. Just because I felt left alone too. You don't have to go this way. You don't have to repeat my mistakes."

"You know nothing! I will protect the sword and the sword will protect me!"

"Well now you have an opportunity to prove it" Star-Lord pointed at two Mirror dragons behind them getting closer.

"I knew you could not be trusted!" the young Wildclaw hissed at the group

"Uh you really think we are with them?" Starquill strung the bowstring in the meantime "We could say the same about you!"

The two Mirrors growled and looked at the group with the soulless, black eyes with plumes of black smoke around them.

As soon as Starquill shoot the first arrow, the battle has begun. The young Wildclaw nearly immediately ran away to the castle.
After a longer exchange of scratches, bites and occasional arrows and magic beams, it seemed that nothing - not even the most powerful of the spells Starlight knew and used - neither defeated the Mirrors, nor could destroy the Shade infection they had.

"Run to the vortex!" Starlight said to the rest of the team "I'll try to stop them as long as possible"

"But... Starlight..." Starquill groaned out

"Don't worry about me, I know what I am doing."

Starlight channeled her last reserves of magic she had and made a magical shield so the others could evacuate. When the rest of the team became only a barely visible through the blizzard dot on the horizon, she felt she can't hold any longer and dropped down, barely understanding what's happening around her. She was pretty soon encircled by the two enemies.

"Starlight, NO!" Starquill screamed grievingly, seeing what's happening. He was about to run to her but got stopped by Black Bolt.

One of the Mirrors was about to jump at Starlight when suddenly... some sword blade stopped his plan and he turned into a black dust - that looked similar to the black smoke he had around the eyes - and then the said dust vanished into thin air before it could settle.

It was the sword of the young Wildclaw. The other Mirror ran away, clearly terrified of what happened to his companion. Wildclaw leaped at the chance that the enemy was not there and dragged the Equestrian to a more safe place - the castle that gave him shelter too. As soon as they reached the doorstep of the castle, there could be heard a very non-dragon-y sound that was like a mix of a growl and howl that carried through the desolated ice plain and merged with the violent wind's howling.

This meant that Mirror was ready to return and fight again.

The castle was dark and cold, though much warmer than the outside. The almost blinding white beam of light of the world outside was coming through the door. He left Starlight by one of the numerous columns and nervously came closer to the door, awaiting the danger that may come anytime soon...
