Nilota

The only living progenitor of Renegade Clan, the Mother Superior rules her kin with an iron talon. Wanderers are accepted or rejected at her whim and hatchlings grow or are exalted at her command. Renegade Clan exists to protect the Observatory and Focal Point. All serve to strengthen the clan and its ties to other domains, be it through hunting, magic, or breeding strong fighters.


Nilota's birth occurred from an excess of magic in the Isles following a meteor shower over the Observatory. Confused and alone, the hatchling Nilota wandered aimlessly out of the Isles, her sense of direction mudddled from the power still spinning in her newly-formed brain.

Remaining so addled for several weeks (as the elemental magic forced her growth rate many times faster than normal) resulted her arrival in the Driftwood Drag, and her discovery of three eggs. The first, a wind egg dropped from a merchant's cart, and the second, a water egg washed ashore by the tides, came to her with no trouble, and she resolved to hatch them when she found somewhere to settle down.

The third egg Nilota came upon when traversing the borders of the Tangled Wood and the Scarred Wasteland. Seeking shelter from a terrifying storm, she discovered an abandoned lair with a single living egg in the nesting ground. All the others had gone dark with death. Wondering what had happened to the lair's occupants, Nilota collected the last egg, then decided to leave and seek shelter elsewhere.

The arrival of an Emperor, born of the lair's plague-ridden occupants, made that plan somewhat....

Difficult.


After using her magic properly for the first time (collapsing a large tree on the Emperor occupied it long enough for her to get away), Nilota's head finally cleared and she could feel the tug of her Search pulling her back to the Starfall Isles.

Having discovered her Charge was an Arcane Sprite, the young Guardian spent the better part of the year working up the courage to get the attention of the Arcanist himself, embarrassed that she had fixated on a member of her own god's entourage.

Having accomplished the task, Nilota and the clan she had built - starting with her foundling eggs (Boga, Islander, and Scheherazade, all devoted to their foster mother) and then with her first blood hatchlings - devoted themselves to protecting the Isles and pursuing knowledge.

Still made of magic, Nilota spends her days experimenting, changing the breeds, colors, and genes of her clan should they ask. Her visions are fleeting and cryptic, but useful enough to tell which wanderers truly need the clan's assistance.

Everyone in Renegade is welcome to visit her personal caverns, for magical tutoring or for advice (romantic and otherwise). Iron talons don't always have an iron grip.
