.....................................
A plague dragon hailing from the Rotrock Rim, Scipio's hind legs were badly damaged during a long ago skirmish with a rival clan. Being barely out of his nest at the time, his soft hide had not been enough to protect him and, meeting with no resistance, his attacker's claws tore all the way down to bone. Infection quickly set in. The wounds festered. And gradually, he healed. But there is only so much the body can do, even with the assistance of medicinal herbs and strong magic. Thus Scipio was left with a terrible limp and a lingering pain deep down in his muscles that will never - quite - go away, although he's gotten good at hiding the latter over the years. After all, weakness of any sort is looked down upon in traditional Plague society. Even if it's within one's self. It is therefore unsurprising that Scipio spent much of his youth on the sidelines - for him, weakness equaled worthlessness. And this knowledge cast a pall on everything he did.

Since leaving the Scarred Wasteland on his Search and finding his Charge in Cicero, the young drake has put his past behind him. He has grown, is complete, and has turned all those old feelings of inadequacy into firmness of mind and resolve of spirit, refusing to let his crippled legs turn him into a burden for his new clan, as he feels he was for the clan of his birth.

He has had enough failure for one lifetime.

Scipio will never hesitate to throw himself in front of his ward whenever necessary - despite said charge's occasional unwillingness to be shielded - and is able to take massive amounts of damage before crumbling, even if he isn't terribly light on his feet. This, in combination with his sombre demeanor and tattered garb, have made him quite the intimidating figure within the clan and its surrounding territories. Yet everyone (besides himself) agrees that his true value lies between his ears rather than in his physical power.

You see, Scipio is a brilliant tactician with a wide gaze, good at adapting mid-battle to face changing situations and unexpected challenges. He made this perfectly clear while infiltrating clan territory in the first place, and has proved it time and time again in countless battles since. It is even arguable that without Scipio, the clan never would have made it this far. Therefore it is unsurprising that many of the tactics and formations now employed by Cicero and his warriors are of his design. Which is all well and good - the old Guardian even derives a bit of silent pride from the fact. It's just that he also refuses to accept the idea that that's all he's good for, as many others seem to have done, and very much wishes that Cicero would stop insisting he'd stay behind the front lines during battle. It's downright humiliating (not to mention inefficient) to have a couple of incompetent hatchlings running back and forth, back and forth, serving as your only line to the front, when you're perfectly capable of being there yourself to lead the charge!

The only good thing to come of the whole mess is Scipio's success in turning many of the Nocturne's own arguments against him, and getting him to hang back as well. So at least it's easier for Scipio to keep his Charge out of harm's way these days...

He may not be able to run or leap, but he has crossed the the Abiding Boneyard alone. His claws are strong, his teeth are sharp, his wings are powerful... and His intellect is vast.

Scipio is of the Plague. The Plague does not give in. Do not show him pity on the battlefield. You will receive none in return.
