![]() ![]() where it fell, it festered there tightly 'round her heart ~ immortalize the memories of what sickness tried to take her spirit clad in armor white so it will never break (by @Mockingstar) ![]() ![]() what hopes they had for as a second-in-command or future leader, were quickly dashed once Gizmo reached her teen years. While Alabaster prepared to leave home to serve the lightweaver(even though Gizmo had protested against it. She had a nice relationship with her sister.) and Mudslide proved to be the bookish sort, Gizmo was all about getting out there and seeing the world. At the very least, she proved to be a quick learner and strikingly literate. The clan grew and expanded, adding new occupations and diversity to the clan. A clan of all mirrors turned into one that had pearlcatchers, wildclaws, fae, spirals, and others. It was during this time that Gizmo found a mate in a pearlcatcher-Virmire-but their union was not to last long, for Virmire swiftly left, taking the two children they had with him somewhere within the lightweaver's domain. The young mirror was particularly bitter about this, now refusing to let any male try and woo her. While some of the clan deemed her as infertile, spreading rumors that Virmire had left because Gizmo was unable to have children, the sky blue mirror did her best to keep to what she usually did: Exploring. Seldom would you find this mirror in the clan's lair. Gizmo found herself a best friend in Azul, who also happened to be her brother's-mudslide-mate. But peace is a very fragile foundation. The clan grew bitter, then tired, then restless. They called for change, as most dragons felt unrepresented when they voiced their opinions. These dragons came to Gizmo, asking for assistance because she was the bridge between the commoners and their leaders. Gizmo was..uncomfortable with her newfound position, but reasoned with her parents to hear them out. It had taken months for her to work with Kaeldred and Moraya to allow a more open forum for discussion, so that the clan would behave in a more democratic nature. It took a lot of fighting, arguing and sleepless nights for Gizmo, but she saw how much it meant for her friends. The dragons of the Sunlit Song were still anxious. Zimrii, one of the string players, organized a small group, setting out a night to see if they couldn't find a solution. This was done in complete secrecy, the only other dragon outside of the group who knew was Gizmo. Zimrii and her group were organizing a move to the windswept plateau, The Reedcleft Ascent, to be exact. They found an empty lair, forged from hardened clay, and quickly went to fill it with their belongings, slowly asking members of the clan to help out. When Zimrii went and requested the wove to the Windsinger's domain, Moraya was a bit skeptical, but Kaeldred accepted the idea wholeheartedly. The process took a few months, but finally Moraya gave in, and the entire clan of forty something odd dragons migrated across the lands. ![]() |

![]() ![]() Fitting for a generation yearning out for more A story of the ancients etched in relics from before Faded echoes that survive this vicious cycle that we mourn No telling how much pain a people can ignore How much heartache can communities endure? How much of the problem is systemic and ensured? How much profit over people can executives procure? Tension on my conscience, feel it wrenching at the core The walls are closing in, I need an exit to explore When precious opportunity comes knocking at the door Will you dive into the waters or keep standing at the shore? ![]() ![]() A few years later, Kaeldred suggested to his mate that the clan move and see all of the elemental flights. The rest of the clan seemed in on it, so they gathered up what they needed, and migrated to the first flight they had in mind: Plague. Living in Plague went well for the first few months. They found enough food to feed everybody and their familiars, went on with their daily business. Gizmo continued her explorations to the best of her ability. There was nothing, nothing at all, wrong with the clan. You can see where this is going. It was rather unexpected. At first the disease was nothing more than a slight fever. However, it spread like wildfire, and only a lucky few managed to stay safe. Parents tending nests were bedridden, sometimes left unable to move from the pain. It caused the respiratory system to go AWOL on itself, to slowly degenerate a dragon into nothing but an almost lifeless form of its former self. Dragons, one by one, perished, or left with their families to serve their gods. Mudslide being one of the early few to contract and die by it. Azul, the only healer in the clan, tried to do her best to heal her remaining clanmates, but contracted the disease. Gizmo was left trying to pick up the scraps, to see if she could fix anything that had happened. Her brother-mudslide, the second-in-command-fell ill, and never got better. Soon Gizmo was left with nothing but her parents, a nest waiting to hatch, and a water egg. The mirror tried her best to find a way to prolong her parents' lives; The last thing she wanted was to lose the only family she had left alive. She followed the scrolls, gave Kaeldred what little medicines she could make, but that wasn't enough. With his last ounces of strength, Kaeldred gave her the armor he originally made for his mate, Moraya. Then, he handed over his prized rapier, The one which he used only in extreme matters of the clan(the sword is also engraved. it reads: Devotion), and gave up his leadership for her. It seemed that, even though Gizmo never did seem like the leadership type, that she was going to be thrust into the position anyway. While she kept working to help her parents, it proved futile, for when she woke the next day, both of them had vanished. Gizmo struggled to rebuild her clan of one dragon: her. The water egg had finally hatched, revealing a grey-brown mirror, which Gizmo took under her own wing, and named her Loriith. The nest that had been sired by two mirrors, of four eggs, hatched seemingly healthy mirror children.....which proved to be false as the week went on. Three of the mirror children perished, leaving only a seafoam colored one, which Gizmo named Dax. She tried her best not to seem down or depressed by the events happening. She watched her little clan of three grow into a clan of six, when Dax grew into adulthood, he grew smitten with the leader. Gizmo accepted, more or less out of necessity than out of love. Their first hatchlings were three, though only two lived the plague: Emere and Cett. Slowly, it seemed like the disease had vanished. More hatchlings survived, the rate of sickness went down, and new dragons slowly filtered into the clan. Gizmo did her best to settle into her leadership role, making sure dragons did as they were asked without being too strict. She turned from curious adventurer to Loyal, courageous Warrior. She was always ready to defend her clan. ![]() |

![]() ![]() To feel something, we fight and survive for it To love something, we scream out and cry for it But tell me now are you willing to die for it? Take of what may come as you lay on the line for it? Armored at the core, at the ready and primed for it? Breach the battleground with the courage to drive for it? And to know the fundamentals of being alive? Am I? ![]() ![]() Gizmo had decided that she had had enough, and set up diplomatic missions including herself. The negotiations went poorly, and tensions escalated. Fights erupted, and then the opposing clan lead an invasion at night. It left her clan's guards hideously injured, but they had managed to warn the clan and give them enough time to retaliate. With Gizmo's careful guidance, they were able to send the clan backwards. Afterwards, she fretted about infection setting in for her clanmembers constantly, even though she sustained her own injuries. Luckily, Cett had managed to heal the majority of them-- even if the guards who had likely saved the entire clan had passed. Sick of the plaguelands, and the memories that she associated with it, Gizmo planned to go back to where she was born. She prayed to the Lightweaver, and made offerings. but her patience could only hold so much longer-- so months after the invasion, she asked everyone to pack up their valuables so that they could migrate across Sornieth and back to the Lightweaver's domain. The lair was in shambles and disarray when she arrived, but still had old murals and statues of the lightweaver left intact. It was a breathe of fresh air for Gizmo, and while she mourned the loss of her clanmates, she still held them close to heart. She began refurbishing the lair, and expanding upon it. She was home again. ![]() |
